SUMMARY:
Total 25 years experience, started with Five years as a methods and manufacturing engineering, troubleshooting existing products and operations in addition to initiating and managing research & development projects (Adv Mfg. Eng.), then for the next eighteen years I continued my career as an independent consultant initiating and directing teams to manage engineering related projects with a variety of scopes, INCLUDING THE FOLLWING: Identify Primary Production Capacity and capability requirement by evaluating forecasted marketing demands; Develop Structured Product Design (Product Mapping); Analysis and Development of Operating Systems’ Requirements; Total Quality Management; Design For manufacturing; Process Flow Design (Continuous Flow/Lean); Capital Investment Cost Analysis, Evaluation, and Justification; Equipment Design and Development; Production Management; Plant Management; Materials Management (JIT and KANBAN); Storage Systems Design (Incoming, In Process, and Shipping); Custom Work Station and Tooling Design; Training and Production Management Support ; Feasibility Studies to: a) Design Operating Systems, b) Design Processes/Equipment, c) Develop STD Operating Procedures to Control and Maintain Processes.
Lean Manufacturing, JIT, Kaizen/KANBAN
Implemented lean manufacturing for Boeing 737-X firewall, the project included the process and layout design, materials flow, and materials storage (Instituting Just-n-Time and Kaizen / KANBAN), assembly fixtures, small assembly machines, and welding machines. The changes increased production rate by 30% and eliminated material scheduling and delivery issues.
Development & Implementation of Cellular Manufacturing Processes
Mapped products based on design structure, broke down the projects to short term and long term stages. Long term projects included automation of operations. Short term projects included design of cellular manufacturing based on process flow and product designs. Project included developing standard operating procedures for each work station within each cell; manpower scheduling; training production managers. Example: Star Expansion increased production rate by 96% which enabled the company to win a big contract from Home Depot.
New Product Introduction
Managed launching 2 product families for CNH, worked with India and engineers from across US to resolve / debug design issues. Managed development of operational procedures, and engineering drawings based on ISO standards, and specified tooling requirements for an average of 5 new products a week at Volex. Also managed production of first piece, and obtaining first article acceptance from customers.
Directed a project and performed root cause analysis to solve problems that were preventing the company from taking Home Print Business Cards to full production. Prepared the presentation package and technical paper, that defined the relati;on between process and product quality and requirements to produce the parts consistently. After implementing the recommended changes Avery Dennison was able to release the Business Cards for full production. Managed & justified a project that involved design & development of a $2.2 MM Electro-deposition paint system.
Managed project to purchase a robotic cell (Robot, end of arm tooling, all necessary sensors and Allen Bradley controller), an overhead conveyor, and interlocked the operation between robot, its tooling, molding machine, and overhead conveyor using Allen Bradley Controller. Studied molds to develop a clever design for an end of arm tooling that could handle multiple parts without any change over when changing molds.
Managed and contributed to development of several automated equipment, from initiation through implementation, debugging and training.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
