EXPERIENCE
Electrical Engineer, Checon Corporation April 2010 – Present
-Electrical Test Lab
I developed the AC4 (Overload) electrical testing program in Checon’s test lab, which included:
• Air-core reactor configuration to adjust resistance, inductance, power factor, and test current of the load
• Transient recovery voltage configuration using resistive and capacitive components in the load circuit
• Development of testing program using Opto22 controls and software
This testing program is used to evaluate the electrical performance of contacts under motor load conditions. Some of the testing evaluations include:
• Effect of contact attachment quality on electrical performance
• Effect of contact material on electrical performance
• Effect of manufacturing process on electrical performance
With the success of the AC4 testing program, I managed the expansion of the test lab to conduct AC3 (Endurance) electrical testing in parallel with the existing AC4 testing. The ability to conduct AC3 and AC4 testing is essential to fully understand contact performance under motor load conditions. The expansion for AC3 capabilities included:
• Integration of an Silicon Controlled Rectifier (SCR or Thyristor) switch
• Integration of a transformer to lower incoming test voltage and current
-Process Development/Improvement
I was the lead Project Engineer on a department transfer package, from an outside company, that included over 150 parts. My responsibility was to obtain production process approval on these parts by means of:
• Furnace, torch, and induction brazing
• Projection welding
I am still involved with new projects involving the contact attachment process as well as improving existing processe...
