Project Field Engineer, Iron Ore Company of Canada Concentrate Expansion Project, Bechtel Canada Co (Construction – Mining and Metals), Labrador City, NL, Canada
• Project is an EPCM type and includes installation of a new crusher and 6 km conveyor system for ore handling from mine to plant and installation of a new autogenous mill and ball mill along with associated systems and equipment at an operating iron ore mine and concentrator facility. Project terminated early due to client cutbacks.
• Supervised field engineering and QA/QC engineering group.
• Interacted with contractors, home office, field personnel, and client relating to technical issues, schedule and project controls, general project issues and needs, and safety and environmental oversight.
• Provided input on designs, specifications, feasibility studies, contracts, and contractor submittals including constructability input, contract requirements, evaluation of contractors and proposals, contract administration, and review of contractor submittals.
• Ensured field personnel and contractors followed standard Bechtel and client procedures such as development and implementation of lift plans and QA/QC programs.
• Provided input on quantity reporting for contractors.
• Acting Area Construction Manager for crusher and conveyor system – Earthworks for crusher and conveyor in progress. Field management and supervision of contractor and Bechtel supervision and ES&H personnel.
• Worked intimately with client and local and provincial government entities to ensure appropriate permits were in place and the requirements were followed for developing the new conveyor road through a town public water supply area.
• Actively participated in safety and health implementation, ensuring Bechtel and contractor personnel followed and implemented Bechtel and client safety and health requirements.
• Worked in brown and green field environments including development of new installations, modifying existing facilities, and demolition of existing facilities and structures. 10/07-2/09

• Project is an EPCM type and included an expansion of existing tailings management system (installation of pump houses, distribution pipe systems, and dump ponds) at an operating iron ore mine and concentrator facility.
• Interacted with contractors, home office, field personnel, and client relating to technical issues, standard procedures, QA/QC, schedule and project controls, general project issues and needs, contract administration, pre-operation support, and safety oversight.
• Worked in brown and green field environments including development of new installations and modification of existing facilities. 1/07-10/07
