PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Materials and Corrosion Engineer August 2006 ~ Present
Shell Deutschland Oil GmbH, Rhineland Refinery, Cologne / Wesseling, Germany
* Analyze and solve corrosion issues in the refinery. Run root-cause-analysis and develop recommendations. Examine the proper material application.
* Manage and implement risk and safety analysis for manufacturing units. Develop and update a project plan for implementation. Resource planning of a multi-disciplinary team of operation, technology, inspection and government representative. Define and evaluate damage mechanisms. Facilitate workshops.
* Manage projects by actively steering a multi-disciplinary team of economics, technology, inspection, and external experts, keep within the constraints of timelines, milestones, and resource planning. Coordinate internal and external communication, and report the progress.
Researcher (PhD Candidate) June 2002 ~ January 2006
Federal Institute of Material Research and Testing (BAM), Mechanics of Polymers and Composites, Berlin, Germany
* Researched polymer-metal interphases. Analyzed the stiffness of polymer interfacial regions to characterize the mechanical properties and surface-induced behavior.
* Examined stiffness gradients of polymers with scanning force microscopes (SFM) and scanning electron microscopes (SEM) with energy dispersive X-ray (EDX). Reported the results and presented the project in meetings and conferences.
Sales Engineer August 2001 ~ May 2002
K-tek International, Inc., Portland, Oregon, USA
* Developed strategic marketing plans for X-ray and thin film related products such as beryllium products in X-ray application, high purity metals for film deposition and SFM/SPM cantilevers and gratings.
* Handled sales for domestic and international customers and took responsibility for the communication between customers and production in Russia and Estonia regarding orders, trouble-shooting, customer questions, and product details.
Materials Engineer May 2000 ~ August 2000
Corning Incorporated, Manufacturing Technology and Engineering, Corning, New York, USA
* Developed competency of the characterization techniques for thin film, coating and surfaces in nondestructive techniques. Researched analysis techniques for thin film and fiber optics, and studied analytical data from the instruments for thin film characterization.
* Interviewed production and R&D technicians to improve thin film process and characterization. Visited manufacturing facilities to exam processes and discussed problems.
Chemical Engineering Intern June 1998 ~ September 1998
University of Applied Science Nuremberg (Georg-Simon-Ohm Fachhochschule), Nürnberg, Germany
