Engineer detailed instructions and specifications for the installation and commissioning of DWDM and Sonet transport networks.
Design, coordinate, install, turn-up and test Metro Ethernet, Cell Backhaul, Resilient Packet Ring and Internet customers.
Install, configure, maintain and repair Cisco ME3400 switch and 7600 router for Ethernet networks.
Troubleshoot networks using debugs and traffic analyzers, while tracking attempts, results, and solutions in Footprints ticket system to prevent or resolve similar problems in future.
Manage private IP database and provide addresses for new NEs.
Write Method of Procedure instructions for the implementation of modifications and upgrades to the existing network. Coordinate, order equipment for, manage and implement MOP, taking special care to protect existing services and eliminate or minimize downtime.
Design, evaluate, and test new equipment and network configurations using the facilities lab.
Configure SNMP traps on network elements and monitor using Monolith dashboard system.
Create detailed network drawings in Visio that include all possible network information (IPs, order/circuit numbers, device IDs, media type, etc) capable of use by various departments.
On-call 24/7 for various trouble calls and outages.
Test Equipment: Spirent TestCenter, JDSU 3K/6K T-BERD, Accedian MetroNID, cable testers.
