Piping Materials Engineer: Worked as part of a project execution task force on several projects ranging from medium sized front end engineering packages to a multi-billion dollar revamp and expansion of a crude oil refinery. Notable projects and my role and accomplishments in them are listed below.
BP Whiting Heavy Crude Expansion Project Whiting, Indiana
Was responsible for all piping material design specifications for the OSBL (Outside Battery Limits) pillar, which is all Fluor scope not contained within the specific limits of one of the several new process units installed. Interacted with a variety of vendors and manufacturers to specify and purchase components for a variety of piping systems both above and below ground. Was the responsible engineer for all vendor data that was submitted for OSBL, making sure that our suppliers were providing material to the correct project and industry standards. Worked very closely with our procurement department to generate purchase requisitions and subsequent purchase orders for all material we specified such as valves, pipe, flanges, and fittings as well as stainless steel tubing and underground firewater components. Supported the efforts of our piping designers by specifying the correct connections and material to place in our 3D model, depending on temperature and pressure of the system as well as taking into account the metallurgical concerns. Also compiled and responded to queries from our fabrication shops that arose during the fabrication process regarding dimensional concerns, types of connections, or coating and insulation.
BG Poinsettia and Hibiscus Offshore Natural Gas Platforms Trinidad and Tobago
Primarily performed many of the same material specification, data tracking, design interface, and procurement duties as described above on a slightly smaller task force. Additional hurdles were the weight and dimensional restrictions encountered upon dealing with an offshore platform. Due to these dimensional concerns and the time restraints for an offshore turnaround, I was required to spend several weeks overseeing the fabrication of several critical pipe spools at our primary fabricator in Louisiana. Serving as Fluor's on-site representa...
