In 1999, I headed the expansion of our company, ERPO Construction, A Design/Build firm, across the Mexican border, into Imperial Valley, CA. The task was quite challenging but at the same time extremely gratifying. Although very different from Mexico, the way construction is handled in the US provided me with a breath of fresh air if you will, as the level of professionalism from all sectors of the industry exceeded my expectations.
Most recently my children moved to San Diego to start and continue with their professional careers. I have decided that having enjoyed working as much as I have in the United States and the fact stated above, relocating will be a pivotal step for my professional and personal life.
Having founded two binational employee-owned firms ( www.ERPO.com.mx ) has led me to believe that the construction industry needs Lean qualified procedures based on a systematic structure that will help speed the process of construction, and to accomplished that, it would required the professional knowledge of Civil & Industrial Engineering.
My enclosed resume reveals extensive leadership skills and quality experience in difficult, responsible and organized work, such as:
Senior Project Administration & Construction Management:
Having been a hands-on C.E.O. & Director for both companies, Erpo has given me the opportunity to acquire the experience in project administration, management, office & site organization, handling several projects in the U. S. & Mexico at the same time.
I acquired the ability for US Construction Specifications, Business, & Construction Law, by passing the CA. Contractors State License Board’s three examinations.
Also, by utilizing communication skills between clients, superintendents, subcontractors, architects & engineering firms, on any management problem concerning a project, resolving them quickly and efficiently.
Teamwork & Leadership:
I participated in Public & Private Work bids and won several from the County of Imperial. My experience, both during meetings with top businessmen, authorities or directors from both sides of the border gave me the opportunity to use communication and leadership skills in order to provide an excellent relationship and work environment with a 23 staff main office in Mexico and 200 work force in the construction of Institutional, Commercial buildings, Residential and Tenant Improvements jobs.
I was the Senior project management of a $ 40 million dollar 7 story Federal Courthouse in Mexicali, which we finished on time and under budget due to the dedication of our team. Our team has done Shopping Centers, Banks, Custom Residences, Supermarkets and many institutional buildings.
Procedures for Cost Control:
After finishing my studies, my first experience was as a Cost & Estimator Engineer & Superintendent for the construction of Federal Schools system in Mexico in which I was able to acquire the skills of organizing crews and estimating costs. I have also learned thru the years how to improve productivity in the work site. Now by creating spreadsheets programs for take–off and a data base (RSMeans) for estimating costs in both countries, the companies improved their Bid and real-costs control procedures.
I am acquainted with the growth of your company in the U.S. I would consider it a privilege to work for an organization that is considered one of the top Firms in the State, and continues growing and operating at the vanguard of construction technology. I can be reached at (760) 535-4080 to discuss my qualifications and your requirements. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
