After promotion to Administrative Aide, I transferred to the police department’s Special Operations Division, as the commander’s secretary where I received the commander’s guests and maintained his schedule of appointments. Received, logged, sorted, and forwarded all incoming mail and general correspondence. Prepared correspondence on agency letterhead for the commander’s signature. Became proficient with the confidentiality and security necessary in handling of all official matters, correspondence, and files within the division. Obtained background information to ensure inquiries were properly directed and referred callers to appropriate resources within the department. Posted and verified complex timekeeping for each employee’s payroll keeping in mind labor contract provisions to accurately record all such time and attendance.
