Professional Experience:
Systems Engineering Lead
Science Applications International Corporation Kennedy Space Center, Florida (7/2010 to Present)
• Developed NASA Ground Systems Development Program space center system and data enterprise architecture solution that greatly facilitated intra-program and external program data exchange through implementation of SOA that mapped NASA authoritative database sources between centers using xml and data link architectures.
• Led Tool acquisition trade study for the new 21st Century Ground Systems Program that resulted in source selection of NASA federated tool set for requirements management (based on IT and engineering BOE estimates) saving the program 3.5 million dollars in unnecessary acquisition costs and personnel alignment for future engineering development.
• Innovated, developed and implemented Requirements management tool, database schema, data structures, and reporting protocols to streamline and support NASA Ground Systems SRR/PDR/CDR reviews and solve time and resource issues associated with a document centric review methodology.
• Served as chairman for NASA’s Tri-Program requirements engineering information systems community of practice. Developed program information exchange and integration approached, ROM estimates for vendor support at several NASA centers, and Systems architecture developer delivering local and high level SoS architecture approaches for ground and flight systems development
• Served as principal system architect/ administrator for the Cradle requirements management/systems engineering tool set. Implemented two database projects in production. Created and provided user training, common system architectures, and workflow from System of Systems development down to subsystem engineering teams.
• Mentored junior engineers in system engineering principles and their tailoring to a data centric workflow environment.
• Prepared engineering architecture proposal documents in answer to NASA KLXS II request for Proposal in 2013.
Senior Systems Engineer
Science Applications International Corporation Kennedy Space Center, Florida (7/2007to 7/2010)
• Served as primary NASA interface for CRADLE systems engineering/requirements management software platform. Designed systems engineering and requirements management infrastructure and architecture models through the entire ground systems matrix and provided IT and technical support for all NASA Constellation project integrators and their departments.
• Developed and delivered data architectures and products that enabled the ground systems design team created a solid technical baseline for Kennedy Space Center facilities.
• Developed KSC Ground Systems ITV Architecture in the Cradle that streamlined NASA Ground Operations Systems Engineering and Integration Office’s validation and verification plans.
