OPENING STATEMENT
Actively pursuing a technical writing or writing-related position, possibly within the context of a project, or product/process development or quality assurance role, either full-time or part-time, on contract or otherwise. Well-organized, creative, energetic and disciplined self-starter. Very attentive to detail and excels at working with engineering drawings, blueprints and technical documentation. Military veteran, both as enlisted petty officer and commissioned line officer (US Coast Guard; US Navy). Very flexible on schedule and salary. Health insurance not required.
After several years of working in a variety of R&D, engineering, manufacturing and quality assurance roles - and with college credits in medical technology - I have amassed an impressive arsenal of technical/scientific experience and a wide exposure to multiple industries including defense, aerospace, shipbuilding, aviation, solar energy, nuclear energy, electronics, semiconductors, telecommunications and consumer products. The common denominator in all of my experience has been the requirement of providing a wide variety of documentation to satisfy diverse audiences. Some of my writing has included a computer manual which was published and distributed commercially; numerous standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the fabrication and assembly of electronic countermeasure systems, wiring harnesses, cable assemblies and consumer products; manufacturing work instructions which were informed by military standards (MIL-STDs) and specifications (MIL-SPECs); quality standards related to ISO requirements as well as the CFR; chemical process documentation for the production of thin film (amorphous silicon) photovoltaic modules; entire "build books" for assembly of aviation actuators mandated to adhere to the stringent aerospace industry standards for flight-qualified hardware; white papers; requests for proposals (RFPs) and quotes (RFQs); professional engineering consultation reports; numerous business correspondence; and a master’s degree thesis. Most recently, I successfully developed and documented a new product assembly process for the fault-tolerant electromechanical actuator for a classified customer.
