Looking for a Construction Management position with which to use my various skills to help increase revenues, cultivate relationships with customers, sub-contractors, employees & suppliers. Although being able to communicate with others is one of my attributes, my ability to listen is even a stronger one! I am a capable Draftsman, have working knowledge with ‘ArchiCad’ drawing systems and various ‘Microsoft’ programs. Have also received various certifications related to my work since completing school, including most recently a certification in ‘Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting’.
Examples of Construction Management History
• Asked to do construction remodel of one office at Deltona Medical Arts Center, owners were so satisfied we ended up remodeling five offices and building one new dental office, this work was done with no interruption of services to the doctors or patients. Continued to do construction work on the complex (even after it changed ownership) until relocating to North Carolina.
• Started as a job supervisor, building a strip mall in Port Orange, Fla., it was the first unit in three years that was finished on schedule and in budget, promoted to Projects Manager/General Supervisor of the construction division of the company, taking care of tenant relations, rentals as well as construction management.
• Builder was working in the red, not getting construction jobs closed out and new jobs were running behind schedule. Asked for help with his construction projects and in two months had the back log cleared up, all jobs were on schedule and he was in the black.
• Builder wanted to be able to take extended vacations, asked if I could manage his construction company in his absence (as well as my own), agreed to do it, once for one month. Each time his draws increased during his absence and jobs progressed at an increased rate.
• Orlando Naval Base, Family Annex; Did back ground study and got all ANSI testing results to change the way siding was done on military bases (received letter of commendation). Issued security clearance and certification as a ‘field engineer in all phases of construction’.
• Took a drab building (it had been a Surf Club Bar & Grill) on International Drive Orlando, Fla.
Re-constructed the front façade and dressed up the interior, helping to turn it into an eye
catching touristy restaurant.
• Was asked to help re-construct a home on St. Croix that was torn apart by a hurricane, others saw how construction was progressing, ended up being there part time (while managing construction business in Fla.) for three years.
• Called in to do specialty trim and finish work on an addition (Ballroom, Servants Kitchen & Private Office) on an estate in Winter Park Fla., contractor was having problems with the owner. Was asked to intercede, manage and help finish the project, finished the job with the owner happy and the contractor getting all of his money.
• Out of the hundreds of construction related customers they could choice from, Residential Building Supply in Debary, Fla., came and asked me to turn their building (it was a converted metal warehouse) into a showcase for their products (inside and out). They were very happy with the transformation that took place and the expeditious manner it was done in.
