My formal qualifications include a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern Queensland, an Associate Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the Queensland Institute of Technology and an Electrical Trade background.

I have over 20 years experience in the Power Industry on CFB, CC and coal fired plants. I also have 2 years experience in the Pulp and Paper Industry, experience in the Oil and Gas Industry and 1 year experience in the Mining Industry. I have been working in various roles including DCS commissioning, Control System upgrades and O&M. My ability to communicate on many levels has also afforded me several roles where my job scope included training staff personnel.
I have worked in Australia, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, PNG and Brunei.

08/11-08/12 Lead DCS commissioning Engineer

MOPU upgrade project Lihir Island
Responsibilities: Manage the DCS team commissioning the new plant for the MOPU upgrade project. The key areas of plant being upgraded are NCA, Primary Crushing, Grind Thickener, Pressure Oxidation, O2 plant. Improved control system performance by modifying DCS logic.

Responsibilities: Resolve existing logic problems in the ABB INFI90 system, trouble shoot and tune major loops. Review logic to ensure that client’s requirements have been met. Provide onsite training for local staff. Manage a team of up to 13 engineers on site.

Responsibilities: Coordinate Vendor site visits and plan Vendor work on site for the Foxboro IA, Honeywell FSC and GE Mark VI.
Plan Pre-commissioning activities, review cause and effect documents and narratives. Perform loop testing, mark up documents for customer turn over packs. Commission systems and verify logic operation according to cause and effect documents and narratives.

03/03 – 07/05 Steam Power Plant Engineer (DCS)

Paiton Stage 1 Power Station, East Java, Indonesia
Paiton Units 7 & 8 - Each are 650 MW Coal Fired Units
Responsibilities: Develop procedures and technical instructions associated with the performance testing and modification of plant controls and instrumentation. Analyse plant data and prepare detailed plant performance reports. Develop, implement and manage procedures for the maintenance, modification and enhancement of the ABB INFI90 DCS.
Provide guidance and technical advice to plant operators.
Design and implement software changes on the DCS to improve plant performance. Design and implement a EWS/control room upgrade and modification project. Manage a $400,000 USD TRAX Simulator upgrade project and a $150,000 USD PI Data Processor upgrade project.
Design and commission auto start/stop sequence logic for Pulverisers, ID Fans, FD Fans, PA Fans and Feed Pumps.
