Description: Work within the Technical Services Department identifying opportunities, troubleshooting process issues and developing strategies to optimize units for maximum profitability and best efficiency while maintaining a reliable, safe and environmentally responsible operation.
Responsibilities:
o Monitor key process variables, lab data and equipment performance for assigned units to identify deviations, troubleshoot process issues and provide sustainable solutions/recommendations for improvement ranging from simple unit variable adjustment to procedural development or changes. Unit assignments have included the following technologies: hydrotreaters (light distillates/gas oil), vacuum, visbreaker, amine recovery and downstream fractionation.
o Be available 24/7 for customer support to Operations during startups, shut downs or unit upsets.
o Support major maintenance scope of work development and justification, equipment inspections, catalyst change outs, catalyst sulfiding, catalyst regeneration, etc.
o Identify/predict and remove/alleviate unit constraints/bottlenecks and provide feedback to refinery production plan to ensure maximum profitability and unit utilization for current and future operation.
o Support safety and environmental compliance by providing release calculations for environmental incidents, participating in incident investigation and mitigation, participating/leading RCFAs, leading MOCs, participating in HAZOP, being part of emergency response teams, etc.
