Objective
To secure a position in the field of electrical engineering, electronic engineering or related field in order to utilize my problem solving, leadership and design skills
Work Experience
Electrical Systems Engineer
United Space Alliance (NASA Prime Contractor); Kennedy Space Center, FL – April 2008 to Present
• Served as the primary electrical systems engineer for all low voltage power systems at three major facilities at the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) which included the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB), the Logistics facility and the CRCA.
• Served as a secondary systems engineer for numerous other facilities at KSC.
• Ensured all electrical equipment was functioning correctly, properly maintained, NEC and NFPA 70/70E compliant, safe, reliable and properly configured.
• Responsible for 28 total 480V substations and all electrical equipment powered from them.
• Maintained all material handling equipment at the Kennedy Space Center Logistics facility which included 5 automatic storage retrieval systems, 3 automatic guided vehicles, 20 conveyor systems and 5 forklift trucks.
• Conducted tests on all components of the substations which included: trip unit tests, open and closed transition tests on double ended substations, manual and remote operation tests on substation breakers, control power throw-over relay tests, under-voltage relay and synch check relay tests, etc.
• Gained extensive knowledge of electrical substations, transformers, power panels, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), programmable logic controllers (PLC), transient voltage surge suppressors (TVSS), automatic transfer switches (ATS), facility grounding, lightning protection, etc.
• Collected data from electrical equipment and used SKM software to determine the short circuit current, arc flash category and protective device coordination for all electrical equipment.
• Evaluated SKM reports on all electrical equipment to verify compliance with the NEC and NFPA 70/70E. Ensured that all issues found during the evaluation were corrected in a timely manner.
• Provided labor/material cost and schedule estimations for power system installation and maintenance projects.
• Served as electrical project manager to subcontractors, managed the work performed and verified that the work was done per NEC, NFPA 70/70E, KSC and OSHA requirements.
• Produced technical procedures (work orders) using Maximo and electrical drawings using AutoCAD for the repair, scheduled maintenance and installation of electrical equipment.
• Coordinated electrical outages for maintenance to be performed making sure all parties affected were notified and all critical systems were provided temporary back-up power via another power source.
• Provided engineering support for projects from implementation to completion.
• Supervised and provided technical direction to electronic technicians and low voltage electricians.
• Gave weekly safety presentations to shop personnel in which work place hazards were discussed along with OSHA safety requirements, NEC requirements, NFPA70/70E requirements, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
Field Service Engineer
Pressco Technology Incorporated; Cleveland, OH – August 2007 to February 2008
• Installed vision inspection systems on container production lines at container manufacturing plants nationwide.
• Installed cameras, sensors, lighting arrays, pneumatic rejecters, computer systems, encoders, etc.
• Designed inspection criteria using state of the art software to catch the flaws that the customer wanted to catch and ignore the flaws that the customer decided were acceptable.
• Calibrated the system to reject only the faulty containers and alert the customer of which molds produced the faulty containers.
• Performed Quality Assurance (QA) checks on systems prior to shipment.
• Performed validation checks on all electrical systems to ensure that all components were operational after the installation.
• Performed maintenance, upgraded software and replaced hardware on previously installed systems.
• Trained customers on the functions of their newly installed systems both in the field and in the classroom.
• Traveled nationwide 5 days a week to customer sites sometimes alone, sometimes with one other person installing the vision inspection systems.
• Wrote detailed daily reports describing the work performed and problems encountered while at the customer sites and wrote detailed expense reports which gave details on travel, lo...
