RESEARCH EXPERIENCE____________________________________________________________
Silicon Carbide – CNT composite
• Carbon Nanotube reinforced Silicon Carbide composite (for structural application) developed by Spark Plasma Sintering
• Mechanical properties were measured using Hardness, modulus of elasticity, density, fracture toughness
• CNT coated SiC powder was characterized using X-ray diffraction studies and Thermo gravimetric analysis
Failure Analysis
• Source of surface defect (pit formation) was characterized for medical device impeller (made of Ti-6Al-4V alloy), utilizing metallography, Scanning Electron Microscopy in accordance with ASTM Standard
Carbon Fiber-CNT composite
• Synthesis of CNT on Carbon Fiber (CF) by Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD)
• Effect of catalyst and surface condition of CF and uniform distribution of CNT were studied
Tantalum Carbide – CNT composite
• Tantalum Carbide-CNT composite for high temperature was synthesized by Hot Pressing at Extreme Pressure (4.0 & 7.7 GPa)
• Density, Hardness, Elastic modulus were measured to characterize mechanical properties
Study of Electrodeposition of Hard Chromium Coating
• Hard Chromium plating properties (appearance, morphology, micro-hardness) and production parameters (current density, temperature) studied in order to remove/minimize the problems (poor adherence & surface finish) of the electro-deposition of Cr coatings
Design and Costing of a Plant to produce uPVC pipe
• Market study, engineering analysis of product, design of production process & layout of industry was completed for design of the uPVC plant
• A project proposal was prepared to finance the uPVC production plant
