Systems Engineering Functions, Responsibilities and Accomplishments:
• Responsible project engineer, specialized technical support and personnel mentoring for commercial and military aircraft gaseous and chemical supplemental, therapeutic, and protective breathing equipment oxygen system programs (Airbus A320/A330/A340/A350/A380/A400M, AVIC1 ARJ21, Boeing B787/B747-8/B777X, COMAC C919, Eclipse Model 500, Embraer ERJ 170/190, Fairchild-Dornier 728). Design / definition and application of closed-loop electronic pressure control valves, pressure, temperature, and position sensors and switches.
• Design of various types of oxygen system related aircraft structure: Reinforced compression, injection molded and pre-preg composites. Machined and formed aluminum structures. Stainless steel, brass, copper and aluminum oxygen valve and tubing components. Braided high and low pressure flexible hoses.
• Technical liaison and management of US and International vendor supplied top-level components. Conducted vendor PDR, CDR, PRR, and witnessed qualification test activities for procured oxygen system components.
• Data Concentrator / sensor interfacing. EICAS Status and Synoptic Page, Crew Alert System and Onboard Maintenance System messaging definition and equations. Avionics mini-rig and iron-bird systems definition and test support.
Systems Safety, Reliability and Maintainability:
• Point of contact, specialized technical support and personnel mentoring for B/E System Safety Assessment, reliability and maintainability analysis.
• SSA activities at system and equipment levels per SAE ARP4761 including:
o Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA),
o Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA),
o Fault Tree Analysis (FTA),
o Common Mode Analysis, Zonal Analysis, Particular Risk Analysis, Common Cause Analysis, and Human Error Analysis (Crew, Maintenance, Design Input).

• Service Life Validation program for Oxygen System Pyrotechnic Initiator (Protractor). Service Life Validation program and investigations associated with the operation, storage and use of pyrotechnically actuated, sodium chlorate based Chemical Oxygen Generators.
• Oxygen system and component level Fire Hazard risk management, minimization of ignition hazards, implementation of best design practices and material selection, utilization of best practices.

• Federal Aviation Administration Designated Engineering Representative (DER) – Mechanical Systems. Airworthiness Authority Certification / Qualification Test Plan development and implementation. FAA 8110-3 regulatory compliance finding approvals and recommend approvals on behalf of FAA. Signatory authority on all B/E Aerospace – LSS design and program data releases and changes. Support FAA and EASA in preparation of Airworthiness Directives applied to B/E Aerospace equipment.
