Langan Engineering & Environmental Services, Miami, Florida
Staff Engineer September 2005 – January 2009

*Coordinated several site investigation projects. Conducted Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments. Prepared Site Assessment Reports. Conducted soil, groundwater and well sampling. Supervised well installation. Coordinated the disposal of Investigation Derived Waste. Conducted numerous Environmental Remediation Oversights. Prepared daily and quarterly natural attenuation monitoring reports. Participated in several natural attenuation monitoring programs. Performed Asbestos Abatement Monitoring Inspections. Conducted final air clearance. Performed Earthwork Inspections and Density Testing on several projects.

The following are brief summaries of a few projects at Langan.

• Phase I and Limited Phase II Environmental Site Assessment-Building 2020
Carried out historical studies -reviewed aerial photographs, Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps and City Directories for an office building within a commercial area in Miami. Performed reconnaissance visits and interviews and reviewed current database reports for the property and surrounding. The assessment did not reveal any evidence of recognized environmental conditions associated with the property. However, two dry cleaning facilities in the Florida Department of Environmental protection Agency Dissolved Solvent Cleanup Program were within close proximity to the property. Collected geoprobe groundwater samples along the property boundary in the direction of the dry cleaning facilities to test for volatile organic halocarbons (VOH). VOH concentrations were below regulatory limits.

• Asbestos Abatement Monitoring at the Fontainebleau Hotel Miami Beach
Conducted an asbestos inspection prior to renovation work at the hotel, and monitored the asbestos abatement process: collected bulk samples during inspection and abatement, collected air samples during abatement, conducted final air clearances for different sections of the hotel, prepared daily reports, asbestos inspection reports and clearance reports for the different sections monitored.

• Soil and Groundwater investigation at the Miami International Airport
Investigated the soil and groundwater around nine soakage pits located within the footprint of a proposed utility corridor: collected several soil and groundwater samples, delineated the vertical and horizontal extent of the contaminant plume, supervised the excavation of the soakage pits, soil and removal of water within the contaminated area, prepared daily reports, site investigation report and preconstruction assessment report.

• Ryder pompano Natural Attenuation Monitoring only Program
Delineated the horizontal extent of the contaminant plume: installed perimeter monitoring wells around the source well, sampled the source and perimeter wells quarterly, prepared quarterly natural attenuation monitoring reports with recommendations.
