PROJECT EXPERIENCE
• Steel Structures Plant Expansion, Lancaster, PA
38,000 SF 3-bay wide steel framed addition to High Steel’s fabrication plant. Each bay is designed for 20-ton cranes supported on separate crane rails and supporting columns. Due to the presence of a large and deep extent of existing fill materials under the building pad, a deep foundation system consisting of mini-piles, pile caps and grade beams was used. The end walls of the existing facility were reconfigured for the installation of 50 foot wide “mega doors.”
• United States Penitentiary – Lewisburg, PA Segregation Unit Renovation
Renovation of an existing wing of a circa 1915 federal penitentiary
The project consisted of increasing the size of the maximum-security cells. The existing interior masonry walls were removed and replaced, while the existing concrete slabs were retained. In addition to reconfiguring the cells, the existing floor openings were filled and new stair and elevator towers were added. The structural system consisted of an existing one-way concrete floor slab supported by new masonry walls.
