1/07 – 12/07 Project Management Consultant
DKC, Inc. - Dr. Kiesewetter Consulting

• Engaged as full-time consultant at an engineering company where I acted as an interim project coordinator and trained the resident project managers on ways to track and improve the profitability of their projects. Tools used for project financial tracking were Microsoft Excel, Primavera, and an ERP system called AS400.
• Created a budget revision and tracking system for the client in the business of heavy capital equipment for the plastics industry. Each order is considered a project, and has a budget between $300,000 and $3,500,000. The projects take an average of 6 months to move through the phases of design, procurement, assembly, and installation. Budget revisions took place in the client’s AS400 ERP system, and on a weekly basis I compiled them into an Excel spreadsheet for overall management reporting. This Excel “dashboard” now drives management review of profit margins for work-in-process.
• Built schedules for selected projects to cover the entire phase of design through installation. Many projects faced penalty charges for late delivery, and the schedules I developed helped to minimize these penalties. The work continues at this client to standardize the scheduling of individual projects into a centralized and consistent system using templates. This scheduling work was done in Primavera 5.0.
• A separate but concurrent project was managing a “Lean Operations” consulting engagement with a piston manufacturing company in India. I was involved on this project for 5 months. The project scope was to organize the entire logistics chain for the client on a “pull” system based on customer demand rather than a “push” system based on plant production capabilities. The client was utilizing SAP as the backend management software. I was onsite in India approximately 10 days per month. I managed the project schedule with MS Project, created and checked the documentation, and maintained issues lists to keep the project team organized.
