SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE
Over thirty years of experience in the execution and delivery of Plans, Specifications, and Estimate in the market segments of transportation, public work, land development, site design, and flood control; experienced in the capacity of a Design Engineer/Project Engineer of the Project. The experience was acquired in different counties and municipalities of State of California, State of Colorado, State of Washington, Province of British Columbia, Province of Quebec, and State of Puebla, Mexico.
The following are some of the tasks and responsibilities during employment:
• Preparation of engineering plans and estimate for highway and roadway work, site improvements, and general civil. Preparation of engineering plans include establishment and calculation of control lines (horizontal and vertical control), right-of-way delineation, retaining wall layout, utility relocation, signing and striping, stage construction, traffic handling, grading and drainage, erosion control, and construction details. Perform site design, parking layout, and roadway layout for land development projects.
• Coordination and interaction with clients, subconsultants, and public agencies. Supervision of junior engineers and CADD operators.
• Proficient in the use of CADD software to provide engineering design, specifically Inroads, supplemented by Microstation and Autocad.
• Quantification of construction material and construction cost.
• Assist in the preparation of project proposal and cost proposal.
• Senior Review of construction documents to ensure adherence to Federal, State and Local Standards.
PROJECT EXPERIENCE
• Project: Volkswagen-Audi Assembly Plant
Client: State of Puebla, Mexico
Project Role: Design Engineer
Prepared construction plans for interchanges and roadways, connecting an automotive plant to federal highway and state highway system. Assist in laying out the perimeter road around the plant and parking areas. The size of the plant is 460 hectares and will employ approximately 25,000 employees. The projected traffic demand requires access to the site by building a new two major highways with three full movement interchanges. One access is connected to a state highway with roadway connector. The other access is connected to a federal highway with a new 10-kilometer roadway. Connections on both highways have full movement interchange. The new 10-kilometer roadway crosses three local roads, railroad track, several tributary creeks, and state highway. All crossings will be grade separated by a bridge.
Estimated Construction Cost: $950 million
CADD Software: Inroads, Microstation, and Autocad
• Project: Metropolitan Denver Transportation Expansion Project (T-REX), Design-Build Project
Client: Colorado Department of Transportation/Regional Transportation District
Project Role: QA/QC Team Member
Performed quality control and construction review of retaining walls during design and construction phase, but not limited in the design of freeway ramps, local streets and bike paths. Task and responsibilities include coordination of design and construction issues amongst project designers and field personnel.
Project Description: The T-REX Project is a multi-modal design-build project providing improvements to highway, transit, pedestrian, and bicycle facilities. The facility requires construction of the following: Widening of Highway I-25 and I-225 for seventeen miles, construction of 19 miles of light rail transit within the corridor, upgrade of ten interchanges, replacement of 60 bridges, and construction of 350 retaining walls (2.2 million square feet). The project is located in the Denver Metropolitan area, a combined project of Colorado Department of Transportation and Regional Transportation District of Denver.
Construction Cost: $1.6 billion
CADD Software: Inroads and Microstation
• Project: Site Remediation and Creek Realignment (Almaden Quicksilver Park)
Client: Parks and Recreation Department, County of Santa Clara, California
Project Role: Project Engineer
Project Engineer for the remediation of Hacienda Furnace Yard Area (A section of Almaden Quicksilver Park), preparing the Plans, Specifications, and Estimate. The park is on the grounds of a former mercury mines. Parks and Recreation Department was required to clean up mine tailings deposited in the Hacienda Furnace Yard, around its area, and along the banks of Alamitos Creek. The tailings were brought by the downstream flow of Alamitos Creek. Area of remediation is a habitat of several animals and fauna, including red-legged frog, an endangered species. The water stream is in the jurisdiction of US Army Corps of Engineers and California Department of Fish and Wildlife.
Project Elements: Delineate the boundary of remediation area, grade and drain the site, remove mine tailings, and protect the area by capping the soil with clay. Widen and realign Alamitos Creek and Gulch Creek, protect its embankment by revetment, constructing cutoff wall and placing gabions along the bank. Construct ditches around the perimeter of the site to control water coming from the hillsides. Identify haul route for the removal of contaminated materials.
Construction Cost: $3 million
CADD Software: Inroads and Autocad
• Project: Emergency Roadway Repair
Client: County of San Benito, California
Project Role: Design Engineer
Design Engineer for the emergency repair of damaged roadways and waterways due to historical flood event. Project Engineer for five of the twelve sites located throughout San Benito County. Performed project visits and provided damage assessment for each site, preparing the construction plans, specifications, and estimate. Provided design support and field inspection during construction.
Project Elements: Realignment of roadway, repair of landslide area, revetment of creek embankment, construction of low water crossing, and construction of retaining wall.
Construction Cost: $10 million
CADD Software: Inroads and Microstation
• Project: Bayshore Station Platform and Trackwork, San Francisco Bay Area, California
Client: Caltrain and Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board
Project Role: Lead Designer
Lead Designer for the preparation of 35% design plans on Bayshore Station Platform Project. Tasks include preparation of platform layout, parking area layout, site plan, typical sections, grading and drainage plan, utility plan, and construction staging; coordination of civil design work with track designer, building architect, landscape architect, and other subconsultants such as land surveyor, structural engineer, mechanical engineer and electrical engineer. Prepared the construction cost estimate.
Project Elements: Construction of northbound and southbound platforms to accommodate four track capacity , temporary platforms, pedestrian tunnel, kiss-and-ride facility, bike locker facility, and parking facility; include modifications and improvements to access road.
