Bioremediation of Dinitroxylene Isomers in TNT Contaminated Sites (Master Thesis Expected)
Research Assistant in Dr. Hughes’ Lab in Georgia Tech January 2011 – present
• Cooperated with 4 group members for bacteria enrichment of nitroaromatics in TNT contaminated sites for Dupont project, in order to test biodegradability of 19 isomers and illustrated degradation kinetics, monitored by GC-MS, HPLC and UV Spectroscopy.
• Cometabolism of 2,4-dinitrotoluene and 10 dinitroxylene isomers in 2,4-dinitrotoluene degrading system due to the difficulty of finding dinitroxylene isomers individually.
Microbial Community Structure in Industrial Wastewater Treatment Processes
Graduation project in Tsinghua University March 2010 – July 2010
• Analyzed water quality and organic compounds in Luzhi Sewage Plant, via different methods of UV spectrum, 3D fluorescence spectrum and LLE-GC-MS
• Amplified the 16SrDNA genes of the DNA extracted from activated sludge samples, separated these PCR products by DGGE and analyzed the sequencing results
Nonpoint Sources Pollution Research at the Olympic Forest Park (a nationally supported program of the 2008 Beijing Olympics)

• Selected 28 soil sampling sites in the entire area of the Olympic Forest Park to measure their properties
• Collected rainfall samples for analysis since the first rain in the summer of 2009, including COD, ammonium, nitrate, TN, phosphate, and TP
• Analyzed the data via the Water Erosion Prediction Project model of USEPA, compared effects of different locations or times, and validated several models
