PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
General Motors Company, Milford, MI July 2011 – Present
Algorithm Design Development Engineer
-Develop adaptive clutch control algorithms capable of learning out variation within a transmission in order to provide consistent shift quality and feel.
-Responsible for creating long term validation plan to determine adaptive clutch control performance, capabilities and limitations
-Provide bi-monthly status updates of algorithm validation efforts to management addressing potential areas of risk and plausible solutions to improve adaptive clutch control robustness
-Assist with the integration of newly developed software content into production software builds for SIL and HIL testing
-Provide additional support and training to the transmission calibration team for newly developed algorithms and software content
-Present high level summaries of overall adaptive clutch control timing as it relates to algorithm development and validation to Transmission Engineering executive leadership
-Participate in evaluative rides with management to demonstrate improvements made to performance of adaptive clutch control algorithms
Key Accomplishments:
- Developed and refined adaptive clutch control algorithm capable of learning clutch position to within 0.1mm of accuracy and precision.
-Currently leading the validation of additional clutch control adaptive algorithms for specific shift related events Current work has been submitted to the Patent Review Board
General Motors Company, Milford, MI May 2010 – June 2011
Calibration Engineer- Offgoing Clutch Control
-Responsibilities included managing and releasing offgoing clutch control calibrations for the 6LXX RWD transmission variants
-Calibrated adaptive clutch control algorithms for power downshifts with one offgoing element, one oncoming element as well as via neutral shift events.
-Performed sea level and altitude testing of the calibration changes made to power down shifts to assess the impact of the ability for the adaptive algorithms to learn correctly in GM’s 6 speed RWD transmissions
-Debugged software related issues with lead clutch control calibration engineers
Key Accomplishments:
-Successfully released offgoing clutch control calibrations for a power downshift events as well as calibration handles for adaptive clutch control in the 6L45/50/80/90 transmission variants for the 2012 model year
-Identified areas of improvement within control and created algorithms to improve power downshift feel
-Mentored a intern from Kettering University for his summer project in the area of transmission calibration Worked with a small team of colleagues to create an algorithm capable of purging the clutch of air after long periods of clutch spinning freely during steady state operation.
General Motors Company, Milford, MI July 2007 – June 2010
Lead Transmission Diagnostic Calibration Engineer
