RESEARCH EXPERIENCE / ACADEMIC PROJECTS :
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY September 2010 - May 2012
Research & Teaching Assistant – Nano-Tribology under Professor.Yunfeng Shi, RPI.
• Researched materials testing techniques and literature on the topic of mechanical testing of materials.
• Created new testing methods for investigating the nature of failure and yielding in metallic glasses under tension/compression.
• Examined the disagreement between conventional wear laws and experiments performed at nanometer length scales.
• Developed new empirical wear law for use at the nanoscale to predict material loss as a function of sliding distance.
• Joined high-level concepts with general engineering principles to formulate new theory for predicting shear-band angles.
• Mentored and led undergraduate students through project on compression testing for metallic glass nano-wires.
• Reviewed, set up and performed experiments and demonstrations for materials science laboratories and lectures.
Master’s Thesis : Nano-Scale Tribology via Molecular Modeling.
Center for Integrated Electronics, Troy, NY Jan 2009 - August 2009
Research Assistant – CNTS as interconnects
• Worked under Prof. Saroj Nayak determining the electromagnetic properties of graphene, graphite, carbon nanotubes.
• Studied the process of carbon nanotube sorting via surfactant molecules such as sodium cholate.
• Learned and implemented computational molecular dynamics programs CPMD and Gaussian.
