RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
Project / Process Engineer
Flextronics Corporation,
Milpitas, CA 95035 Dec. 2005 – Jun. 2010
• Process Engineer for New Product Introduction (NPI) and Prototype Build on Network Systems and Telecommunication switches.
• Generated Corrective Action Reports linked to DPPM data for high reliability components used in System Assembly Build and Test.
• Develop process build stations & floor layout for manufacturing thru put from U-Cell operation concepts for MA1 build to final product test stations & quality assurance inspection station.
• Design, Develop and Implemented manufacturing tools as required for process build quality assurance – positional location fixtures; go / no-go gauges for critical features, Mylar templates for hole location, labeling & serial number format generation on Zebra printers, data entry and shop floor manufacturing control via Flex Flow data entry system.
• Member of internal audit team responsible for Flex’s compliance with ISO Audit requirements. Conducted Telecommunications TL9000; Aerospace AS9100; Environmental ISO14000; Electro Static Discharge ESD 20/20 walk thru campus product manufacturing buildings. Generated weekly DPPM reports for critical components used in Ericsson network system product integration: 2U systems thru to 42U system units.
• Directed / conducted paint process control and optimization –limit color variation – from suppliers in Montreal, Guadalajara, & Carolina. Changed paint structure from metallic liquid to powder coat particle. Implemented critical inspection steps in the paint process, e.g. dust partitions, surface clean prep operation steps; light booths; colorimeter for gloss and photo –spectrometry color matching measuring instrumentation…subsequently presented a cost reduction KAIZEN by limiting color contrast variation.
• Designed and Built test fixtures; assembly carts; for burn-in chamber, & tables ergonomically suited for system process build. Championed the reduction from three operators to a one-person operation.….. time savings and safety features were compiled into cost and cycle time KAIZEN.
• Currently Process Engr for Juniper Telecommunications - Network Switching Systems. Generated floor layout plans, ac & dc power drops for system tests, routers linking mechanical system build w / Flex Flow and label serial numbering. Similar stations for IBM units from Hi-Pot, FCT; RIT Burn –In; FST; JIA and ORT with different logistics.
• Designed and compiled System Process Instructions (SPI) detailing sequential steps to adhere to when assembling systems. The SPI / MPI are directly related to outgoing product quality level and repeatability of each product built on site. Generate on-line Adobe versions thru Doc. Control for system build; system test; QA and quality alerts, Pack Out & Ship; which are constantly updated with latest customer deviations.
• Currently working on implementing an external RMA and Field Failure Return process flow tracker / router for customer. Starting with RMA # being provided to ship back unit, Received in by QA & PE for review, Scanned into Flex Flow and routed as per failure into test or damaged components. Working with customer for ETN # & S/N # conversion in Oracle data base acceptance and maintain system integrity as unit moves to Spares Depot.
• Conducted first article test analysis and specification verification for the Flex built AGV –Automated Guided Vehicle. Made recommendations that enhanced its adaptability for U-Cell and single piece flow build operations. Enhancements included remote desk operation, speed control and signal for stops.
• Implemented Kanban carts for Single Piece Flow that reduced material inventory carrying costs.
• Post Build Reports ( PBR ) of customer prototype build and first article product builds. These units are built under engineering supervision and the conduit for recommending design changes, enhancements etc with respect to Lean and Six Sigma goals but ultimately quality assurance.
Process Assurance Supervisor
Adecco Tech./Verizon Wireless /ADT / Manpower Corp.
Brentwood, New York Aug, 2003 - Jul, 2005
• Quality Assurance Supervisor for the Imaging Systems (surface prep glass masters for photolithography in class 10K clean room) & Data Reproduction (optical head / disk track alignment ) Processes.
• Install, Test & Verify process equipment (IBM, Zerox, Encore Digital Imaging & Kodak ) to maintain capability levels and overall Statistical Process Control output projections.
• Technical liaison for Sales Team on issues pertaining to wiring, antennas, signal amplification, cellular phones and palm pilots.
• Verify & Test network hardware equipment in conjunction with TCP-IP desk support.
• Inspect and Certify solder rework process on PCB’s components and Flex circuitry as per IPC-A-610, 7711/21 and ISO-9000 specifications.
Senior Product Assurance & Reliability Engineer
Corning Inc., Corning , New York Nov, 2000 - Jun, 2002
• Project Leader of Cross Functional Team that established product reliability and quality assurance requirements for metal oxide chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) wafers / CD discs built in Class 1000 clean room assembly and used in laser pumps and Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifiers (EDFA's).
• Verify equipment (surface analyzer focusing system, photo resist spin coater and auto developer) laser etching/markings to UL calibration standards prior to production runs in cl 1000 Clean Room assembly.
• Designed Qualification plans for final clean & inspect in Class 100 & 1000 Clean Room assembly process for opto / electrical components. Verify glass thickness and uniform consistency by optical time domain reflectometry - OTDR.
