May 2013 – Present: United States Naval Reserve- Officer in Charge for Cargo Afloat Rig Team III. Commands 25 enlisted sailors. Command augments civilian sailors on supply and refueling ships when needed. Responsible for all aspects of the unit including deployment readiness, physical fitness, training, safety, and discipline.
-Spent time away from fulltime work to invest in myself. Heavy participation in Navy Reserves including career enhancing schools and underway replenishment operations. Took time to learn drupal content management software resulting in the creation of Jpods.com website. Purchased multiple investment properties. Weekly community service through Habitat for Humanity.
January 2014 – March 2014: Chevron – Reliability Engineer Limited responsibilities and difference of opinions with management led to shortened experience with Chevron.
January 2010 – January 2014: Space Systems Loral – Solar Array Dept Sr Mechanical Engineer Manufacturer of large commercial geosynchronous satellites. Project/Product Manager for multiple solar arrays covering the entire spectrum of designing and manufacturing. Responsible for schedule, cost, and quality of delivered solar arrays to the spacecraft.
-Redesigned solar array panel and substrates to allow for increased commonality of solar array wing types and improved stowed dynamic clearances resulting in lower costs from process documentation updates.
-Managed the building and delivery of one set of solar array wings to the satellite in the fewest amount of days on record. Tight timeline was caused by delays in other satellite builds.
-Coordinated one of the most complicated repairs on a set of solar array wings to date. Repair required coordinating a tight manufacturing schedule, Japanese vendor support, electrical and mechanical expertise and customer input all with extremely limited resources.
-Rewrote and streamlined the entire solar array test plan. Merged multiple overlapping documents, to minimize the amount of documentation that needed periodic updating. Developed standard test matrixes to address different types of hardware requiring different amounts of testing.
-Experience with composite material manufacturing for lightweight solar array substrates.
-Experience with FEMA, 5Y, and other root cause analysis techniques.
-Lean Six Sigma yellow belt certification.

March 2011 – May 2013: United States Naval Reserve- Administrative Officer for Military Sealift Command Expeditionary Port Unit 117. Responsible for all administrative aspects of the unit to include performance evaluations, formal communications, and coordination of planned activities.
-Action Officer for three separate annual training exercises in Yokohama, Japan, Okinawa Japan, and Concord CA. Coordinated the arrival, execution of mission, and departure of myself and all other unit members. Mission included the combined onload and offload of over 1000 shipping containers.
February 2009 – January 2010: Bay Stationery – Vice President- Entrepreneurial venture with one partner. Inventors of the pen-sleeve. Experience with patents, import/export, product development, supply chain management, search engine optimization (SEO), and online retailing.
August 2008 – February 2009 :Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA)- Systems Engineer for Land Attack Missile Systems. Provides Navy Fleet Support for matters concerning Land Attack Weapons.
-Recreated and troubleshot various anomalies in Tactical Tomahawk Weapons Systems Software.
February 2008 – February 2011: United States Naval Reserve- Force Protection/Weapons Officer for Command Naval Forces Korea. Responsible for the custody and maintenance of 110 weapons. Responsible for weapons training and qualification of 79 personnel.
-Updated the Navy Oil and Hazardous Substance Spill Response Plan for all of South Korea. Collaborated with US and Korean Navies, government agencies, and private contractors to align the plan with host nation environmental regulations and DoD reporting requirements, resulting in suitable and feasible at-sea and regional response to any oil and hazardous spill crisis.
February 2008 – July 2008 : Took time off to travel and decompress from the active navy.
-Travelled to Costa Rica, Peru, Chile, Argentina, and Brazil.
-Took month long intensive Spanish language school in Buenos Aires.
January 2006 – January 2008: Reactor Controls Division Officer- USS Nimitz (CVN-68). Led 26 personnel in the operation and maintenance of reactor instrumentation and control systems for the A4W Nuclear Reactor Plant.
