Sales Engineer / Design Engineer Jun 1982 – Dec 1995
Performed preliminary steel joist and steel deck product designs for Requests for Quotation. Reviewed contract documents for specific conditions affecting product design. Fielded technical questions from specifiers, sales personnel, and customers regarding proper usage, handling and specification of products. Organized and conducted professional technical seminars for consulting engineers utilizing in-house personnel and outside consultants. Provided technical support as well as final design engineering for National Accounts Sales to Wal-Mart, Circuit City, and Kroger. Performed production final designs for sold projects, including The Alamodome. Developed new products and applications for existing products.
Engineering Manager Dec 1995 – Mar 2001
Provided departmental leadership for Engineering, Drafting, Shop Order, Quality Assurance and IT work groups. Responsible for administering and implementing all corporate and division policies. Worked with Drafting to increase throughput resulting in annual output increases of 5-10% each year. Worked with Shop Order to achieve goal of scheduled production work each week. Performed investigation and forensic analysis of products involved in liability claims. Worked with engineers, insurance, and legal entities to resolve issues.

Sales Manager Mar 2001 – Apr 2006
Established initial sales group for start-up joist and deck plant covering nine northeastern states. Responsible for hiring, training, and mentoring all inside and outside sales personnel. Opened new sales office in Pittsburgh and expanded existing offices. Developed market strategies and pricing criteria during early phases of plant start-up resulting in sales of roughly 500,000 tons of product during the first five years.
