National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) – (June 2008 – Present)
MOX Fuel Fabrication Project, Savannah River Site, Aiken, SC
Descriptions of various functions, duties, and responsibilities held are as followed:
Test and Assembly Engineer - Provide oversight of the nuclear glove box and major equipment assembly and testing activities. Review cost and schedule performance, variances and trends Monitored and verify progress on glove box test assemblies. Approve contractors' assembly schedules and quality control procedures. Provide management briefings to the Federal Project Director and Integrated Project Team on project status.
Sustainability Engineer - Developed the NNSA Sustainability Plan at the Office of Infrastructure and Facilities Management incorporating energy conservation and renewable energy requirements from sustainability Executive Orders and DOE Orders.
Construction Engineer - Conducted facility inspections ensuring the construction activities met NRC requirements for nuclear construction. Provided Daily Activity Reports on contractor performance. Performed vendor inspections to ensure project activities met the project’s schedule, cost and quality requirements. Prepared the daily plan of the day activities. Provided timely contractor fee input. Performed robust safety walk-downs with the MFFF safety organization. Documented issues and followed up to ensure timely resolution. Conducted formal assessments of contractor’s performance against approved cost, schedule and technical baselines. Improved HVAC efficiency, developed waste minimization and other programs to achieve LEED credits. Coordinated design and planning review conferences with designers, engineers and construction personnel. Advised Project Architect-Engineer (PAE) of changes needed to meet LEED requirements. Facility Representative - Attended contractor’s shift turnover meetings to assure facility priorities for the day before presentation were maintained. Performed daily facility tours to observe work evolutions in the Central Control Room and facility to assure that conduct of operations were followed. Ensured that the management control systems and procedures followed nuclear, radiological, industrial safety, and environmental compliance program requirements, policies and practices, and contractual obligations. Organized a three-day Lessons Learned Exchange Workshop with NNSA senior management.
