EXPERIENCE HIGHLIGHTS
Materials Engineering Senior Design Project: Boride Titanium Coatings
(2011-present)
Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada
Conducted boride powder pack heat treatments on Titanium samples (CP Gr 2) and identified strengthening mechanisms, changes in mechanical behavior and changes in material structure.
Conducted microstructure survey utilizing scanning electron microscopes (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and optical microscopy techniques.
Analyzed mechanical behavior changes via hardness and tensile testing (Instron machines). Surveyed changes in hardness, ductility, UTS, yield strength, mode of failure, etc.
Reported findings to supervisor on a weekly basis. Completed thorough written reports and oral presentations.
Aided in data collection for a paper published in a peer reviewed scientific journal.
