PAST EXPERIENCE
POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE, UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS, URBANA-CHAMPAIGN (AUG’ 11- PRESENT)
• Working on therapeutic ultrasound for tumor treatment in rabbits and rodents (ex vivo and in vivo).
• Developing quantitative ultrasound (QUS) as a method to monitor ultrasound treatments.
• Working on reducing grating lobes for ultrasound arrays for HIFU application.
• Working on improving parametric estimates from Quantitative ultrasound in the presence of cavitation.
• Handling laboratory animals as a part of the research.
RESEARCH ASSISTANT AT UNIVERSITY OF CINCINNATI, CINCINNATI, OH (SEP’05– AUG’ 11)
• Designed and conducted series of cavitation suppression experiments to shed light on role of cavitation in altering ultrasound ablation geometry as part of my thesis dissertation.
• Built an ingenious low-cost overpressure system capable of withstanding 200 PSI of hydraulic pressure for use in cavitation suppression through use overpressure.
• Performed and compared various staining techniques (TTC, H&E and DAPI) to evaluate tissue necroses.
• Developed MATLAB codes for quantifying extent of necroses based on nuclear characteristics as shown by DAPI staining and comparing it to TTC staining.
• Built statistical regression models to predict ultrasound lesion geometry based on cavitation signals during ultrasound treatments.
• Published four technical papers related to ultrasound cavitation and its effect on tissue histology for ultrasound bulk ablation.
