PROJECT MANAGER/SENIOR ARCHITECT 3/1994 – 7/2012
As a Project Manager for Roberts & Schaefer Co. I :
• Directed scope development, engineering and construction for a $25 million Coke Movement Improvement Project for Chevron El Segundo Refinery. Improved scheduled completion for optimum integration in to larger refinery upgrade.
• Executed management of the Seal Water Project, part of the Kennecott MAPS moly plant construction. Coordinated with Jacobs Co. to integrate our supply end equipment with the new plant. Construction costs were $6 million.
• Created professional relationship with Hexcel management resulting in a long term design and engineering partnership. Projects included the $20 million Fiberline #5, the $43 million Fiberline #8 carbon fiber production plant and the follow-up $45 million Fiberline #10 carbon fiber plant. Start-up time of all three plants was minimal and exceed the owner’s expectations.
• Coordinated from flow sheet development to construction support and final approval for the $15 million Calavaras Cement lime stone crushing and processing circuit in Tehachapi, California. Developed schedule recovery plan after 100 year rain storm damaged new construction.
• Assistant project manager for the engineering, procurement, and construction of the $60 million Teck Coal Elkview Mine HM plant near Sparwood, B.C. Canada. Commited to extensive time on site to coordinate the out sourced engineering, provide technical assistance for correction of engineering defencies and owner change orders, and acted as on-site construction manager in the absence of lead construction manager. This allowed for the project manager to better carry out his responsibilities.
As the senior architect for Roberts & Schaefer Co. I designed and provided the project management for the following successful projects:
• $7 million U.S. Borax mine truck shop in Boron, California including five haul truck bays, administrative addition, and a truck wash facility.
• $4 million mine truck shop at Bridger Coal near Rock Springs Wyoming including 4 repair bays, recycle truck wash, oil and lube storage, and support facilities.
• $2.5 million underground mine truck shop for Independence Mine near Elko, Nevada including bays for underground mining equipment and dry facilities for miners.
• $2 million plant control and laboratory building for Titan America’s Pennsuco, Florida cement plant.
• Multiple ancillary building packages for grass roots mines in North America and South America.
