Used a watershed approach to determine the environmental impacts of abandoned uranium mines in Slim Buttes area, Harding Co., SD. This involved sampling and analysis of sediment and surface water within drainages surrounding, and potentially affected by, these mines. Another aspect was to look for locational and/or geochemical trends associated with the heavy metals (namely uranium and arsenic) found in samples.
