General Engineer
Worked as a General Engineer under the supervision of the Chief Project Engineer with the responsibility of monitoring leased space including CBOCs and/or administrative space operated by the VA in support of the facility mission to provide uninterrupted quality patient care by utilizing emerging state of the art techniques, equipment, and facilities. Represented the customer as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects. Reviewed plans, sketches, blueprints, and other similar technical information to understand the scope of work and ensure the accuracy and completeness of contract documents. Performed design cost estimates to include equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation and other related costs. Performed inspections of work sites to include construction, welding, demolition, restoration, carpentry, plumbing, painting, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), as well as, other building equipment, fixtures, and furnishings to check quality of work performed, and ensure conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules. Utilized AutoCAD to perform adjustments to the intricate electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and architectural designs/layouts of recurring assignments of moderate difficulty, and responsible for cataloging, storing, maintaining and updating the as-built drawings. Supported the higher-grade engineers in the planning, coordination, and developing statements of work and preliminary designs for assigned portion of the projects.
