PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Engineer II - Maintenance Engineer
SANTEE COOPER - WINYAH GENERATING STATION, Georgetown, SC | September 2012 – Present
Developed technical specifications for small to mid-sized projects, up to $2M, and upgrades on plant site
Managed teams of on-site mechanics and mechanical contractors during various projects and upgrades of plant equipment.
Collaborated with Operations, Mechanical Maintenance, Electrical Maintenance, and Technical Service departments during on-site projects to ensure specific timelines for Unit outages are upheld.
Developed pump and system curves to design upgraded pump systems for waste water removal.
Determined proper metal compositions and thicknesses for various upgrades regarding coal system upgrades, boiler drain upgrades, pressure vessel upgrades and chemical piping systems according to current ASME standards.
Collected Vibration data using a CSI 2130 portable analyzer to determine issues with a wide variety of plant equipment including fans, pumps, gearboxes, motors, and other plant specific machinery.
Determined failure modes of bearings, gears, and rotors to determine root causes of failure including but not limited to inner/outer race failures, gear mesh frequencies, and bent shafts.
Created 2-D and 3-D drawings in AutoCAD for simple structures, pipe routes, and dimensional tolerances for certain applications as applicable to the project at hand.
Repaired and replaced numerous expansion joints consisting of metal, teflon, and viton construction.
Assisted mechanics in the repair of tube leaks in boilers by determining: the root cause of failure, the proper material to be replaced, the type of replacement necessary for the specific application, and the correct welding procedures to follow.
Presented multiple project ideas to upper management based on the needs and recommendations of plant personnel.
