EDUCATION
Western Illinois University, Macomb, IL
Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering, Minor in Management, 05/2011
Selected coursework includes: Manufacturing Facility Layout; Manufacturing Material Handling; Industrial Health and Safety; Quality Engineering; Basic Industrial Electrical Engineering; Introduction to Robotics; Production Mold Design; Fluid Power; Material Science; Total Quality Management.
Sustaining Engineering Intern, LCN Closers, Princeton, IL 05/2010 – 08/2010
Conducted Quality Assurance inspections and studies to identify and initiate process and tooling improvements to increase productivity and quality, and/or reduce manufacturing costs.
Applied formal product development process from concept through development, design, test, analysis and selection to identify optimum cylinder oil formula. Put into place controls, study protocols and data reporting processes. Defined performance criteria; utilized standardized tools and methods to measure and statistically analyze fall-out. Utilized WindChill to document and submit formula variations. Prepared and presented PowerPoint with data analysis, summary of findings and recommendations for senior management.
Conducted feasibility study with cost and quality analysis on purchase of annealed vs. not annealed cylinders for estimating cost savings.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
LCN Closers, Princeton, IL 1985 – Present
Tool and Die Manufacturer, (1995 – Present)
Troubleshoot and repair production equipment and assembly machinery. Design and manufacture mechanical production and tooling parts for cylindrical grinders, shell line machines, vertical mills, drill presses and other machinery. Replicate parts and draw original designs. Perform final assembly, test and implementation to production line for new equipment.
Analyze workload and prioritize tasks based on critical need. Estimate material costs and production time. Track projects in Excel; provide updates to Production Supervisors and Managers on timelines.
Proactively communicate with operators and managers, and survey production lines to identify issues and hindrances to quality, workflow and production rate. Monitor equipment performance, troubleshoot and repair. Initiate and execute redesign of fixtures to improve operator handling, productivity and precision of parts. Maintain environment of continuous improvement.
Apply Lean Tooling principles to reduce waste, improve quality, and increase productivity. Contribute to Six Sigma Process Improvement projects.
Redesigned tooling for vertical broach enabling in-house production at savings of $250 per part for average $5000 annual return and elimination of lead time.
Compared vendor costs to material and labor costs; established, tested and refined production processes; analyzed quality outcome. Resulted in elimination of outsource and savings of $250 per part for average $5000 annual return.
