• Daily use of Statistical Analysis software (Infinity QS and JMP ) to monitor Laser processes and overall manufacturing line performance
• Experienced with FMEA’s and project development
• Daily Development Engineering Project ETA (Engineering Test Authorization) Support
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and 14001 standards
• United States Navy Electronics Technician Veteran with 10 years experience in electronic calibration, component and board level troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and PM scheduling on RF Communication equipment, Navigation, ISM Network hardware, and RADIAC equipment
• Secret Security Clearance while on Active Duty

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

First Solar, Perrysburg, OH, 2008- present
Manufacturing Engineer-Laser Engineering Group
• Process Sustaining: responsible for sustaining the complete Laser Scribe and Laser Edge Delete Processes through data analysis and line floor time, responding to and reducing complex tool downtime issues, and conducting Manufacturing Engineering Technician and Production team training.
• Global Process Alignment Leader: Conducted Bi-weekly alignment meetings with Malaysian and German counterparts tracking process variation through SPC, chronic tool issues, Production Readiness Checklists, and Tool KPV Fingerprinting
• Laser TRT (Technical Review Team) Member: Voting member responsible for CMS Whitepaper review’s to include: feasibility, Solution Development support, Qualification & Implementation Plan reviews, FMEA reviews, and Specification validation and Process Control
• SPEAR Team member: Kaizen evolution charged with identifying previously unknown Process variations through KPIV and KPOV identification and validation. In the Laser Process, new control monitors were identified, PM improvements, and IV(Current/Voltage) Curve parameters revised to reflect the current technology bundles
• Project Highlights:
• Scribe Spacing Reduction: Developed a new method of performing the Laser tool alignments allowing each Module to be seen the same way by all three Laser Processes. This reduced the spacing standard deviation values which in turn allowed us to tighten our Process target. Next I validated the tighter spacing targets through controlled reliability testing and increased product sampling. End result was zero dollars invested with a to date ROI of $10.3 million dollars. This project earned myself and our Technician the 2012 CEO Award
• Cycle Time Reduction: Two part project that consisted of Laser Tool modifications with vendor assistance as well as Development Engineering changes to the Laser Scribing Process. This included multiple DOE’s to determine robust Process Window’s for laser power, focus, and frequency
• SPC Data Charting: Developed new SPC trend charts for Spacing and Standard Deviation. Previous charts focused on whole Module metrics which masked within module variation. New charts focused on front and back half metrics independently which is how the Process is implemented. This change gave us improved Process Control by improving within Module Standard Deviations
• Laser Process Book & Parameter Fingerprinting: To support global new process rollouts, developed Laser specific process books which included complete Process Maps, Key Process Inputs & Output Variables, Supporting Equipment KPV’s, PM documentation, Control Plans, and FMEA’s .
• New Unit Qualification: Successfully supported the on schedule PBG Unit1 Plant expansion and qualification. This project consisted of the installation and equipment qualification of two new manufacturing lines, specifically, 6 new Laser Scribe Tools, 2 Isolation Laser Scribe Tools, and 2 Barcode Marker Scribe Tools while performing Unit 2 sustaining responsibilities

United States Navy, 1998- 2008
Area Leader Electronics Technician Instructor- Great Lakes, IL, 2005-2008
• Area Leader with 3-5 classrooms and associated troubleshooting equipment laboratories providing instruction on HF and UHF communications systems, apprentice RADAR, and electronics theory to 4000 students annually
• As Assistant Radiation Safety Officer for the Command, successfully packaged and shipped 4 Radioactive Source Calibrator...
