Work Experience
Owens Corning – Applications Development Engineer
Intern – Owens Corning Science & Technology Center November 2012 – Present
• Leads in designing fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) material in high volume commercial products for customers.
• Responsible for characterizing and modeling of non-homogeneous, anisotropic composite material on ABAQUS, and the influence of corrosion in FRP and conventional metals in structural application.
• Modeling and validating the process influence of injection molded FRP material with mold flow simulations.

NASA - Colorado Space Grant Consortium
Summer Intern - SolarSAT Project Summer 2009
• Designed a robust 1.5 kg near space satellite to study the effects of change in elevation on solar cell efficiency.
• Power output from thin film solar panel was recorded as it ascended to 100,000ft in elevation via weather balloon.
• Able to withstand severe atmospheric conditions, crash landing, and autonomously deploy its solar panels.
• Successfully met design criteria, deadlines, budget, mass constraints, and was invited to present at NASA's JPL.

Red Rocks Community College - Lakewood, CO
Student Tutor Spring 2007
• Tutored students in various math disciplines at local community college.
• Provided private and walk in tutoring sessions from basic geometry to calculus.

Research Experience
UAB Material Processing and Applications Development (MPAD) Lab
Research Thesis - Pultrusion Processing 2010-Present
• Researching process-to-structural property relations of thermoplastic composites by pultrusion processing.
• Designed and manufactured pultrusion die by modeling heat transfer, fluid flow, and stress fields inside the die.
• Hands on experience processing carbon and glass fiber reinforced composites using long fiber and continues fibers in thermoset and thermoplastics.
• Experienced in hand lay up, hot melt impregnation, VARTM, compression molding, and extrusion processing.

UAB MPAD Lab
Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) - Compression After Impact Summer 2008
• Researched the effects of multipoint high velocity impact damage in glass fiber reinforced vinyl ester panels.
• Samples were processed by VARTM method and imposed them ballistics damage.
• Bending and compression after impact, vibration tests were conducted to characterize the residual strength.
Teamwork Experience
Formula SAE Hybrid
Senior Design Practicum 2009-2010
• Designed an open wheel gas-electric hybrid race for the 2010 FSAE Hybrid Competition.
• Took part in designing parallel-drive hybrid drive train system, suspension, pedal box, and impact attenuator.
• Finished 7th in competition (of 30 teams) with unique hybrid drive train design feature and overall performance.

Colorado State University
Group Mechatronics Project - Home Security Robot Fall 2009
• Constructed an autonomous Home Security Robot with PIC-Microcontrollers.
• Equipped with multiple sensors to detect, maneuver, patrol an area, and sound an alarm if it “sees” an intruder.
• Project was published in the July edition of Design News ...
