EXPERIENCE
ENGINEERING
DePuy Trauma, Miami, Florida
Senior Design Project October 2011 - April 2012
Successfully collaborated with a team of four other students in the design and delivery of the DePuy dorsal nail plate (DNP) system. The new prototype of the DNP outrigger I helped design fit more perfectly into the disposable tray and facilitated worldwide distribution of the instrument. The new disposable outrigger will decrease manufacturing cost by 93% and will increase projected sales by 15%.
Helped craft a thorough cost-effectiveness evaluation of the DNP system based on diligent research of materials and marketing necessary for the product’s development.
Skillfully tested the DNP outrigger prototype utilizing autoclaving, an optical comparator, and stress analysis (with strain gauge and SolidWorks) to accurately assess the prototype’s design, strength, and durability.

Special Research Projects
Biomaterials December 2011
Meticulously developed an improved MATLAB code that facilitated more accurate calculation of cubic and hexagonal miller indices. Project Title: “Mathematical Method of Calculating Miller Indices for Cubic and Hexagonal Unit Cells for Any Given Set of Weiss Parameters using MATLAB.”
Medical Instrumentation Design April 2010
With a five-member team, innovated an advanced finger pulse measuring device that utilized an infrared emitter and phototransistor light receiver, along with a special circuit that used high- and low-pass filters and an oscilloscope to more accurately detect pulse. This device ensures a more precise detection of cardiac pulse and improved readings that will benefit medical professionals and patients.
