EXPERIENCE

May 2014 - AECOM Formerly URS ( New Orleans Louisiana )
Aug 2015 Snr. Piping & Stress Engineer
Built Stress Models using Caesar II (Version 2013) , from Isometric drawings, analysed these models to ensure Code Compliance with ASME B31.3 / B31.4 . This involved the usual diplacement checks, stress on pipe-support checks and nozzle loading on sensitive equipment nozzles. Pipes were mainly Carbon Steel such as A106 Gr.B, A56 Gr.C and FRP ( Fibre Re-enforced Plastic ) Piping 150.4 & 150.6 for various diameters up to 48”. Projects involved included Chevron Wharf Loading, Elevance Natchez Bio-Refinery, Phillips 66 Alliance Refinery, First-Energy at the Bruce Mansfield De-Watering Plant and Marathon Export Gasoline.

On Site Mechanical Engineer
Worked on site at Phillips 66 Alliance Refinery at Belle Chasse Louisiana as a mechanical engineer during their “Turn-Around” of the HF Alkylation Unit. Primary responsibility was to interact on a daily basis with onsite contractors (Repcon) with their immediate mechanical needs. Reviewing Vendor Drawings was also a common occurrence. In oder to secure this position a TWIC Card was necessary which required a complete Federal Background Check. Another required permit was from the Gulf Course Safety Coucil which involved Class Room Training for Gasoline Refineries. This position also required an intensive Hydro-Flouric Acid Course. My TWIC card is valid up until 5 years after the date of issuance.

October 2013 - GE Oil & Gas ( Schertz Texas )
March 2014 Snr. Piping & Stress Engineer
Responsible for co-ordinating, scheduling, giving technical assistance and checking the finished Stress Analysis Package done by a group of 12 Offshore Engineers based in Bangalore India.
Compact , Portable LNG ( Liquid Natural Gas ) Skid Mounted Modules were being stress analysed by the Offshore Team using Bentley Auto Pipe at the request of our Client (Shell Oil).
Directed daily technical meetings and bi-weekly scheduling/metrics meetings with the Offshore Team, via Webex video conferencing. Both Dynamic and Static Analyses were performed by the Offshore team. Due to the cryogenic nature of the design, different grades of Stainless Steel pipes had to be used instead of Carbon Steel. The final Stress Package was then uploaded by the Offshore Team, to the GE Portal for my review, approval and signature.

August 2013 - Ascend Performance Materials October 2013 Chocolate Bayou Plant ( Houston Texas )
Snr. Mechanical & Piping Engineer
Involved in re-designing EPDM flex boots that connect hoppers to conveyors, which failed every four weeks due to the constant vibratory motion of the hoppers. Extreme care and special protective clothing were worn when in the field as substance is Sodium Cyanide powder which is extremely toxic.
Re-configured and re-routed 4” and 6” Stainless Steel A312-316L piping carrying aqueous sodium cyanide in order to accommodate a new proposed drain piping.
Liased with electrical engineers to electrically heat trace and insulate over 2,000ft of various size stainless steel pipeline carrying substances such as aqueous Sodium Cyanide, Hydrogen Cyanide and Hydrofloric Acid.

October 2009 - Jacobs Engineering ( Tucson Arizona )
May 2013 Snr. Piping & Stress Engineer
Worked as Senior Piping Engineer on the Morenci Metcalf 55K Expasnsion project located in Morenci Arizona doing Pipe Stress Calculations by hand or with Caesar II, Pump Hydraulic Calculations by hand or with AFT Fathom and Pnuematic Air Compressor Calculations by First Priciples using Compressibility Tables.
Worked as a Senior Piping Engineer on the Toromocho Project ( Copper and Molybdenum Mining ) situated East of Lima at 5,000 metres elevation in the Andes Mountains. Involved in hydraulic pump calculations for a range of fluids varying in viscosity from that of water and thin oils using Hazel Williams Formula to those of high viscosity such as flocculants and slurries using Darcy Weisbach Formula. Involved in the calculation of motor horsepower de-rated for high altitude as well as the preparation of technical bid evaluation documents for pumps such as vertical turbine, centrifugal and positive displacement..
Worked as a Stress Analysis Engineer on Piping in the M.A.P. Project located outside Salt Lake City , performed Stress Analysis using Caesar II Software to ensure that pipes were not overstressed due to weight loads , thermal loads , wind loads, seismic loads etc.
Inclusive on all three Projects mentioned above , the line sizes worked on varied from flexible 1/2" to rigid 48" bore in a variety of common materials such as Carbon & Stainless Steels , HDPE , PVC and FRP at tempereatures well in excess of 500° F for Steel Pipes.

April 2008 – Bechtel Ltd. ( Montreal Quebec )
December 2008 Senior Piping Engineer
Worked for Bechtel Montreal on the Kitimat Modernization Project in Kitimat British Columbia.
Did pipe stress analysis on the Natural Gas and Compressed Air lines to the Anode Baking Furnace ( ABF ) . Analysis was done with the aid of Caesar II version 5.0

Prepared Material Requsitions for valves and piping bulk for the complete project.

Wrote Design Criteria for Fire Protection. Met with client to discuss what type of fire detection and protection they preferred for the various areas of the plant. Calculated sprinkler density flowrates for various areas by assessing the flammability hazard according to the guidelines of NFPA13 then multiplying by the initial area to be sprinklered. Decided whether to use class I or III standpipes for high risk areas.

Did heating duct design and layout for all the required heating areas as well as the duct weight calculation with the aid of a crane ductulator for cost estimation purposes.
Wrote valve data sheets according to the service required and also responsible for preparing the following documents and having them approved internally by the engineering team and then by the client :
• Design Critera For Piping
• Design Criteria For HVAC
• Design Criteria for Fire Protection And Detection
• Specification for Thermal Insulation
• Specification for Fabrication and Installation of Piping
• Specification for HVAC
• Specification For Plumbing and Building Serv...
