Corning, Inc, Concord, North Carolina 2011-2013
Process Engineer
Controlled/revised processes and managed front-end equipment to produce glass fiber for fiber optic cables. Performed process development and refinement of front-end equipment to product glass fiber for use in commercial fiber optic cable, including equipment maintenance, calibration, and development. Monitor fiber optical properties to adjust front-end equipment parameters including review of sample analysis from SEM and ICP-MS.
• Implemented new fiber product introduction to front-end process. Worked with UNC-Charlotte to have samples analyzed via SEM-EDX.
• Directed the reduction of specific optical defects in front-end processes from over 3.5% at the end of 2011 to near 2% by mid-2012 through process improvements and equipment modifications.
• Led DMAIC team for front-end process improvements and initiated updates to process documentation and training material for technician training as well as training shop associates.
