Caterpillar Highwall Miners was acquired from Bucyrus International in July of 2011. Caterpillar has countless number of years in the heavy machinery industry and recently expanded into the global mining market with their acquisition of Bucyrus International.
• Implemented and completed Engineering Change Notices as needed.
• Researched and redesigned continuous improvement projects for the Highwall Miner product line.
• Provided prints and engineering guidance as needed to the shop floor.
• Worked with customers to design multiple new components for the Highwall Miner on our SolidEdge 3D modeling software.
• Kept up with existing and new hydraulic components and would trouble shoot hydraulic issues as they would arise.
• Assigned lead mechanical engineer for one of our biggest projects of redesigning the Highwall Miner to meet the very stringent Australian standards to help increase our international market.
• Managed an internal Caterpillar engineering group based out of India to help with the vast engineering work that went in to redesigning the Highwall Miner to meet Australian standards.
• Would take trips to the field to trouble shoot major problems that customers were having with their machine.

Metal Works of High Point, Inc. is a small family owned metal fabrication job shop. With over forty years of experience in custom-fabricated metal components and metal stampings they provide a number of different services from CNC Laser cutting and Turret Presses to complete welded and powder coated assemblies.
• Programmed CNC Mills, set up Bridgeport Mills and Drill Press machines for production runs.
• Designed and built weld fixtures for all new assembly products as well as spot weld fixtures.
