Manage a team of 6 Manufacturing Engineers, 11 Maintenance Technicians, 2 Machinists and 4 Facility Technicians to support production and facility equipment.
Manufacturing Engineering Management
• Define and scope manufacturing process improvement opportunities in the areas of: safety, quality, environmental, expansion and cycle time. Create the annual capital budget based on identified improvement opportunities; average annual spending 2 Million USD. Create cost justification for the budgeted capital investment projects and oversee all aspects of the projects to ensure budget and deadlines are met. • Organize frequent manufacturing engineering support visits to the Mexican facility to ensure best practices and technical solutions are shared across the NAFTA organization. Key team member for all major investment projects in the Mexican facility.
Maintenance Management
• Acted as business expert in the SAP PM module implementation at the US facility to harmonize procedures with the German headquarters. During this project a multitude of improvements were made to the existing PM checks. The implementation of SAP-PM, TPM practices and the enhanced PM checks resulted in a substantial improvement of the PM compliance rate from 50% to a current rate of 98%.
• Implemented monthly downtime metrics including KPI’s and facilitated root cause analysis workshops and corrective action activities, which led to a year over year machine downtime reduction of 10%.
• Implemented maintenance labor tracking and improved material tracking by utilizing SAP-PM and SAP-MM.
• Transformed the culture of the maintenance department from specialized technicians to a team of technicians that can repair production equipment throughout the whole facility. This was achieved by using a cross training plan that made use of internal and external training resources in addition to training at the headquarters where the majority of the machines are built.
• Implemented a predictive maintenance program using infrared, vibration and ultrasonic inspection methods to identify potential bearing and electrical problems. The ultrasonic leak detection program led to a 20% reduction of compressed air usage.
