Projects
Mass Transport Phenomena
August 2012– May 2012
Led a team to determine the diameter of the molecule methylene blue by membrane filtration. Used spectroscopy to determine concentration for 20 samples taken and Wolfram Alpha to calculate molecule diameter using data obtained.
Capstone
January 2013– May 2013
Led a team to repair and improve the distillation column in the unit operations lab. A pump, pressure sensors, thermocouples, an electromagnetic controller, and a new distillation column were added to create a continuous distillation setup and to separate ternary mixtures.
Bio-transport Phenomena
January 2013– May 2013
Led a team to invent a new technology, improve upon an existing technology, or propose an innovative approach to a challenge in biomedical engineering, bioengineering, pharmaceutical engineering, biomolecular engineering, or other medical related field. Created a model that demonstrated physiological pathways using unit operations to bridge the gap between chemical and biomolecular engineering students.
Process Design II
January 2013– May 2013
Led a team to design a model for producing bioethanol from rice husks, run cost analysis, and recommend continuation of constructing a bioethanol plant after calculating net present value.
Research/
Lab Experience Environmental Health Lab Assistant, East Tennessee State University
August 2008– May 2010
Analyzed water samples taken from local streams and rivers using furnace and flame atomic absorption spectrophotometry. Additional duties included cell culturing, taking inventory, and writing the new operation manual for the spectrophotometers.
