RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
University of California, Los Angeles - Bozovic Biophysics Lab Los Angeles, CA
Graduate Student Researcher July 2010 - present
• Studied the nonlinear dynamics of the sensory cells of the inner ear, the hair cells, under a mechanical overstimulation and focused on the gating of mechanically sensitive ion channels employing calcium imaging techniques.
• Designed and constructed photodiode-based tracking unit to follow the dynamics of subcellular organelle with a nanometer precision and extended recording duration by a factor of 100.
• Set up UV laser-excitation fluorescence microscopy system for photolysis of caged calcium.
• Led research team of five to develop magnetic nanoparticle manipulation device.
• Numerically simulated the nonlinear cell response under various stimuli using Runge-Kutta methods.
• Implemented super-resolution algorithm using Matlab for position tracking; decreased noise level three fold.
• Performed statistical analysis on data sets to extract patterns of cell recovery motion after prolonged stimulus.
• Provided safety training for lab members.
