PROMINENT CAREER PROJECTS
• Northpine WTP Roof Sealing – Provided the detailed structural design for a 200m x 66m steel-framed roof over two existing potable water storage tanks. Provided design input to the draftsmen using BIM software. The steel frame consisted of 2-way braced frames with light-gage steel for an efficient design and considerable material cost savings. Key design challenges included a very tight client construction program. Assisted with on-site construction support including Chemset HD bolt validation and provided direct assistance to the steel shop detailers to reduce the number of RFI’s and on-site delays.

• Douglas Arterial Duplication Highway Infrastructure – Prepared and reviewed tender costing packages for supply and installation of bridge items. Reviewed Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) for schedule of quantities and cost estimation based on schedule of rates. On-site contractors’ representative for concrete pours and piling operations.

• Coppabella Dam Welded Steel Inlet Tank – Detailed structural design of a coal tailings dam submerged steel tank. Co-ordinated with dam engineers and drafters from concept to issuing of construction drawings. Liaised with vendors for proprietary stop log/penstock mechanisms to provide information to the client for an economical solution.

• Crinum Underground Conveyors & Infrastructure – Multi-disciplinary project working heavily with mechanical and materials handling engineers. Design of underground structures including transfer towers, horizontal take-up stations, and pulley frames. Key design challenges that were overcome include the underground constructability and installation sequencing of the equipment.

• Jacking of Tank No.10 at Kurnell Refinery – Design of jacking system for replacement of annular and bottom plates to API 650 & 653. Analysis included FEA and designing from first-principles. Communication with the client and vendors for an effective solution within a tight time-frame.

• Independent Review of 45 m Pipeline Bridge – Assisted with the independent structural review of a 45m pipeline bridge. Structural system consisted of a steel pony truss. Computer analysis and in-depth review of appropriate buckling lengths due to pony truss system.

• Tailings Pumps Dynamic Foundations – Completed design and documentation for concrete foundations for two mine tailings slurry pumps and surrounding infill slab. Dynamic analysis of a concrete slab using FEA to avoid resonance and minimise vibrational amplitudes due to out of balance loads. Designed in accordance with ACI 351.3 & CP2012-1.

• Slurry Agitator Tank Replacement - Completed structural checks and dynamic analysis of a replacement 4.8 m dia, 6.1 m high slurry agitator tank. Analysis of tank using FEA.

• Pipe Support Equipment and Infrastructure – Structural design and documentation for steel structures and concrete foundations for a range of industrial infrastructure including solar panels, piping systems and various machinery.

• Design of Two Tanks for Pacific Terminals – Design of two conical fixed-roof diesel storage tanks (36.5 m and 34.5 m dia) and to API 650 using custom design spreadsheets and 3D frame analysis software.
