Summary of Credentials and Experience
I have primarily been a Project Engineer most of my career and within this experience, I have created and managed the development of many large and small electronic products and systems. A number of times in my career, I have been called back to companies as a consultant then re-hired for follow-on work, design verification and completion because of my skills as a project turkey completion expert.
Project Engineers are considered to be project managers but with engineering qualifications. I have typically been involved in the entire design cycle from specification through delivery, often managing multiple simultaneous projects. Most of the programs that I have been involved with have had life cycles from two to five years.
I was granted a DoE “Q”-level (top secret) clearance in 2010.

I worked as a sub-contractor on the Common Range Integrated Instrumentation System (CRIIS) on various TSPI solutions in conjunction with Boeing.
CRIIS is to replace the Advanced Range Data System (ARDS) funded through the funding provided by the Central Test and Evaluation Investment Program (CTEIP) office.
I have a good working relationship with personnel at the Electronic Proving Ground (EPG) personnel at Ft. Huachuca in association with ATEC.
These programs involve validation and verification of data gathered during qualification testing of various embedded devices on weapons platforms.
I worked on sophisticated downlink decom data from satellites, the space shuttle and other avionics platform testing through Loral Instrumentation.
My work included parsing data streams with embedded Inter-Range Instrumentation Group time codes (IRIG), working with devices linked via MIL-STD 1553.
Facility Infrastructure
At both Disney and Universal Studios, at various site locations around the world, I have been responsible for facility planning and implementation
Work included specifications through construction, installation, test and adjust, all the way through to turnkey hand-off
My designs and experience include the following:
Facilities design input, development and site planning for network installation
Power and signal distribution of control and data signals
Lightning and surge protection, facility grounding, cable plants
Telecommunication and signal infrastructure, cabling, duct banks, trays, routing
Safety and security systems. sensor paths, control and alarm panels
Electronic equipment room design, layout and implementation
Hazardous area work design with gases and other flammables
Network, Telecommunications, RF Data Links
During the “dot.com” boom in the late 1990s-2002, I worked as a director of R&D for planning and development of network operation centers and large system architectures. Network equipment providers included: Cisco Systems, 3Com, Alcatel, Breezecom, Cabletron. Equipment and technologies I worked with include the following:
JTRS transceivers OFDM Waveforms and symbol extraction for high throughput data links
Encryption, data transport, IP protocols including IPv6
10BaseT-1000BaseT wired networks, wireless 802.11, Fiber, SONET
Frame relay, X.25, 802.3 Ethernet, OSI layers, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS
ETSI and TIA telecommunications standards
Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANET)
GFSK ISM-band low-level, short distance area networking (nRF905, CC1100)
Convergence of VoIP with data & compressed video streams
DSL, ADSL, VDSL hardware and software
Encapsulated MPEG, VPN, Video-on-Demand
CPE devices, routers, switches, hubs, servers
System Architecture and Design
I have worked heavily in the are of large system design and integration employing numerous rack-mounted primary computer systems
Distributed embedded controllers and RTUs in large signal and data interconnected facilities including Disney parks, Universal studios, U.S. Steel and various army bases (Ft. Irwin, Ft. Polk, Ft. Hood).
I am a system architect and implementer.
Robotics
My designs included hydraulic, pneumatic, stepper-motor and electro-mechanical actuators for robotics and show automation used at Disney and Universal Studios theme parks. This work largely consisted of electronics for PID control loop (closed loop) feedback, servos and digital interfaces for controlling a wide variety of electro-mechanical systems and devices.
Embedded Processors, Controllers and Circuit Design
There are various product developments I managed and designed using embedded controllers such as 8051-based controllers, ARM, MSP430, PIC and other RISC processors in a wide variety of products including printers, display products, soldier-worn instrumentation and other small, low-power self contained equipment. I also have experience with larger controllers and rack-mount systems such as VME-bus and PC104 form-factors used in embedded applications. Experience includes circuit design, ASICs, FPGAs, analog, and glue logic. I have programmed a variety embedded processors using various OS such as Linux, Windows CE, VxWorks.
