Buffalo Grove, IL Engineering Intern
• Assisted village engineers with various public works projects and issues by using AutoCAD to diagram specific problems and form solutions
• Designed swales to solve drainage problems within the village
• Delineated watersheds from topographic maps
• Analyzed and synthesized rainfall depth duration frequency curves for Lake County and Buffalo Grove
• Surveyed areas within village for future engineering concerns
Researching and Engineering Sustainable Solutions for Swaziland, Africa December 2012 – January 2013
Service Learning Project
• Researched and implemented several sustainable solutions to improve the quality of life in local villages, such as solar powered interior lighting systems, after observing an extreme lack of energy- and water-related infrastructure
• Documented results of long term droughts and improper irrigation methods in local communities, and researched possible solutions for those communities
• Planted various species of fruit-bearing trees to create a sustainable farming system in Elangeni village
