INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE
Mahab Ghodss Consulting Engineering Company, Tehran, Iran Jun. 2011 – Jan. 2013
Hydraulic Structure design Engineer
• Cooperated as designing engineer in Dam and Power plant subdivision of MGCEC
• Conducted numerical and experimental modeling for structures on different dam projects, Coastal & Ocean
• Designed hydraulic structures such as Flushing/ Sluicing, weir, bypass tunnels
• Studied feasibility of numerical techniques for assessing the possibility of using counter sedimentation techniques
• Assisted the senior designer in the hydraulic design of massive structures
• Conducted the first M.Sc. thesis research on the projects and linked the research results to the actual situation which brightened the issues that were faced by the designer team
• Linked the result 1-D and 2-D numerical models for sediment transport with the result of experimental models which lead into greater understanding of hydraulic structure design criteria significantly
• Found the model bug for sediment transport and flushing/ sluicing matters in HEC-RAS 4.1.0 model which was approved by the USACE and further was included in the preliminary design process of the project by senior design engineer
• Brought a new application form for 1-D numerical model in the sediment transport issues which was using the boundary conditions in a proper way to be reliable for sediment flushing/ sluicing modeling that was appreciated by the design team in the future projects
• Conducted preliminary and phase 1 of the projects by using the result of my M.Sc. thesis research as design improvements which brought a new vision of real application of numerical and experimental methods for future projects
IWPCO, Tehran, Iran July 2010- Sep. 2010
Onsite Engineer (Internship) at the Upper Gotvand Dam site, Design and Technical office
• Onsite Engineer at the Upper Gotvand Dam site design and technical office in a combined role of inspector and construction engineer for Hydraulic structure subdivision
• Checked and drew as built blueprints
• Investigated the possible methods for concrete lining of surge shafts with respect to Value Engineering methods and the results of the study indicated that although the mobile lining method is faster than conventional one due to the unexpected problems on the site there would be no significant difference in the result of the job
• The Value Engineering study was further to be 100% accurate after finishing the lining of the shaft with the mobile lining which lead to almost 40% detriment to each of the shafts
• As taskmaster representative, conducted regular inspection on different hydraulic structure sites at the Upper Gotvand Dam site
• Ran test analysis in Soil Mechanic lab for QC department of the site
• Worked on the ...
