Professional Experience, Additional Details
APL Maritime:
Support operations of APL’s 9 East Coast based 57,000 HP, Panamax containerships with a capacity of 4,300 TEU. Vessels operate between US East Coast and ports in Europe, Africa, Middle East, and Asia. Vessels utilize low speed diesel propulsion and medium speed diesel power generation systems.
• Support ships by working directly with regulatory agencies, company officials, and ship crews to economically sustain vessels operations during international voyages between major overhaul periods, every 5 years.
• Utilize the computer based NS-5 Preventative Maintenance System to coordinate preventative maintenance onboard each specific vessel with ship’s crews, shore based maintenance companies, and regulatory agencies as required.
• Directly supervise domestic shore based maintenance companies performing routine and nonroutine maintenance during limited windows of opportunity while vessel are conducting cargo operations.
• Directly coordinate and supervise all major nonroutine vessel repairs both domestically and internationally.
• Directly coordinate logistics to ensure APL purchasing, shore based suppliers, and US Customs to deliver all routine and nonroutine parts to vessels at required delivery ports both domestic and internationally to ensure vessels can remain on schedule.
• Coordinate and supervise all regulatory oversight inspections as required onboard to ensure vessel remains in service and on schedule.
• Identify, Propose, Budget, and Implement vessel modifications to support improved effiency, safety, technological upgrades, and regulatory changes.
• Work and coordinate with APL Corporate, shore based maintenance companies, regulatory authorities, and vessels to modify and upgrade vessel systems as required to keep vessels performing as economically and efficiently as possible.
• Utilize the computer based NS-5 Preventative Maintenance System to prepare annual budgets for specific vessels as well as fleet purchasing and maintenance requirements.
• Negotiate budgeting, contracting, and final invoicing with shore based maintenance companies both domestically and internationally to ensure all repairs and modifications are being performed as economically as possible.

Specific Large APL Projects:
• Manage and Supervise repairs to main propulsion line shaft bearing after failure of bearing at sea. Failure required the following key point with direct involvement by American bureau of shipping (ABS) and United States Coast Guard (USCG) as regulatory oversight, while minimizing company exposure and vessel time out of service.
o Coordinate and participate with APL, ship’s crew, regulatory agencies, and shore side vendors to perform an investigation into the Failure Cause Analysis of the bearing failure.
