Dear Hiring Manager:
I am writing to apply for a suitable position at your company where I could use my skills and knowledge in improving and creating new products, innovate new technologies and contribute to the growth of the company. I have extensive experience in the areas of semiconductor/MEMS development, creating new standard operating procedures, metrology characterization and related technologies and some of the highlights are listed below:
− I have been instrumental in developing and implementing simple and efficient assembly/integration processes of various sensors (pirani gauges and isolation platforms) in different electronic packages for a start-up company. This involved creating appropriate recipes, design of experiments, identifying root cause of any deviations in the processes and results.
− Took the initiative in setting up a new lab from scratch, identified and procured parts and equipment from qualified vendors and established safe working conditions.
− Working at the Lurie Nanofabrication Facility at the University of Michigan, I have improved and streamlined the vacuum sealing process of sensors from a laboratory scale to production level. The overall yield of packages increased by 50%.
− Designed, built and implemented a novel MEMS based portable flow-through pH measurement device for environmental monitoring for the first time- Reduced data collection time with improved efficiency and lower cost of implementation.
− Designed and built a high pressure chamber to grow single crystals, a laser ablation chamber for thin film deposition and developed a dual RF-PECVD chamber for the growth and processing of vertically aligned multi-walled carbon nanotubes.
− As a mechanical development engineer at Philips Electronics Singapore Pte Ltd, I have contributed to the improvement of data readout process on different optical pickup units (CD and DVD-ROM) using both simulations and optical measurement methods.
− Documented, published and presented my work to a large audience both using poster and oral presentations at national and international conferences.
− Worked through teleconferencing and other means to interact with collaborators and stake holders.
− I have accomplished various projects individually as well as in a team as necessary working with multidisciplinary teams.
Please refer to my resume for further details. If you feel that my background and experience would benefit your organization, I would request an opportunity for an interview at the earliest to discuss my skills and qualifications with you.
Thank you for your consideration.

OBJECTIVE
I am seeking a challenging position that will allow me to leverage my technical, problem solving and customer interaction skills in the areas of semiconductors, metrology, MEMS, and related fields to grow professionally and contribute to the success of the hiring company.
WORK EXPERIENCE
• ePack, Inc., MI
− R&D Engineer/Technical Staff Sep 2012 - Present
− Joined the 3 person MEMS startup company and established the processing, testing & characterization setups for vacuum packaging with MEMS based pressure sensors.
− This entitled designing and setting up a new lab from scratch, identifying and procurement of parts from qualified vendors, establishing safe work conditions.
− Made process changes to bring laboratory scale bonding to a production level bonding with the available tools. (Lurie Nano-Fabrication Facility, The University of Michigan)
− Initiated a novel assembly process development for critical wire-bonding feasibility- bonding, assembly and integration of isolation platforms in LCC packages. Additional verification of dimensional tolerance testing and analysis is performed with 3D extrusion of 2D schematics-Customized LCC mockups, alignment, die-attach bond strength characterization.
− Provided status updates to stakeholders through technical reports and conference calls.
− Designed drawings and instructed the machine shops to fabricate fixturing and tooling.
• Philips Optical Data Storage, Philips Electronics Singapore Private Lte., Singapore
− Mechanical Development Engineer Feb 2000 - Jan 2001
− Led the simulation study on CD, DVD optical discs using simulation optical software DIFFRACT and contributed to fundamental understanding disc read-out.
− Did the reliability testing of Optical Pickup Units (OPU) which contributed to the improvement of data readout and enhanced performance for new products.
− Responsible for transferring CDRW-OPU testing equipment from Royal Philips in Eindhoven (The Netherlands) to Singapore followed by training other engineers at Philips Optical Storage, Singapore.
• Dept. of Physics
− MS Candidate, MTU Jan 2002 - Aug 2004
