Academic Projects
Product Design Project - Automatic Sound Activated Self-Rocking Crib January-May 2013
- Designed and produced a prototype of an automatic sound activated rocking crib that would assist in calming a child
- Brainstormed and generated design concepts in constructing a prototype
- Decided on features and manufacturing processes based of market research, limited budget and time constraint
- Modeled the mechanical system components with Pro/Engineering and used ANSYS Workbench to analysis for failure
- Follow NSPE Code of Ethic for Engineers for professional standards and safety
- Manufactured a prototype to demonstrate proof of concept and mechanical performance
- Presented results to 15 professors/judges and placed 4th among 18 other projects
Facility Planning and Simulation Modeling January-May 2013
- Selected, disassembled, and analyzed an existing product in the market (makeup box)
- Use Pro/Engineering to model each individual part of the product and assemble all parts
- Designated the manufacturing processes for each part and used AutoCAD to devise an effective floor plan
- Used Arena Simulation Software to simulate the entire process of the facility and evaluate its utilization
- Optimized the process to be more cost efficient and less time demanding
- Communicated the results of this project to faculty, teaching assistant, and over 50 peers
Bracket Design Project September-December 2011
- Designed an optimal load-carrying bracket from high density polyethylene
- The bracket was designed to have minimum weight and carrying design load
- Outline possible designs for bracket with easy machinability that under are project constraints
- Used ANSYS Workbench 13.0 to model and replicate design load effect on bracket
- Manufacture stock bracket operating t...
